The first thing most parents want to know when they visit Care for Kids is how much childcare is going to cost them and how much of a subsidy they're able to receive.
This is understandable given media reports about the escalating fees charged in many early childhood services and the complex subsidy system, which allocates varying levels of support depending on a family's financial situation. It's also even more confusing given the changes to the subsidy in the most recent budget, handed down by treasurer Jim Chalmers on May 9.
To make it easier to work out how much childcare is going to cost your family or how the new subsidy changes effect your family, we have created a range of articles and resources, which you can access on across the site. In addition to these we've made things easier with our our Childcare Subsidy Calculator toggle. You can now see the changes to your subsidy with a click of a button between current and after June 30.
Our state of the art Child Care Subsidy Calculator provides you with information about the cost of care across three domains:
- The total cost of care
- The estimated amount of Child Care Subsidy your family may receive
- Your out of pocket expenses
At the moment, it will also help you toggle between pre and post June 30 2023 to reflect the government changes to the childcare subsidy. All you need to do is provide a few details about your family structure, income, and activity levels and we do the rest.
It's really easy!
The great thing about our calculator is that it is easy to use, and the results are displayed immediately as well as emailed for later reference.
We work hard to make these estimates as accurate as possible, but they will vary according to personal circumstances. To this end, we encourage you to phone Centrelink on 136 150 or visit the Family Assistance Guide if you're stuck or need further information.
