I’m extremely disappointed and heartbroken by the experience my 2-year-old daughter had at belongings early learning Hornsby. While in their care, she suffered a fracture in right hand both side of wrist. The explanation provided by staff was inconsistent and unconvincing, and when we requested CCTV footage, they claimed the incident happened in a “blind spot.” They literally fooled us because their centre is well equipped. This lack of transparency is deeply concerning. In addition to the injury, we noticed our daughter was severely constipated during that period, which we believe was due to inadequate feeding and hydration. her water bottle mostly came back completely full — not even a sip taken — suggesting she wasn’t encouraged or helped to drink water throughout the day. Our main concerns: Lack of proper supervision resulting in serious injury, Poor communication and refusal to share clear evidence of the incident, Negligence in basic care like feeding and hydration. This experience has been traumatic for us as parents. My daughter is also traumatised badly.A place meant to provide care, safety, and trust failed us on multiple levels. We hope no other family has to go through what we did, and that serious steps are taken to improve the centre’s care standards, accountability, and staff training. Read more
Dear Ruchi, We are genuinely sorry to hear that your family has had a distressing experience and that your daughter sustained an injury while in our care. The wellbeing and safety of every child at Belonging Early Learning Hornsby is our highest priority, and we take all incidents extremely seriously. Regarding the injury, we promptly followed our incident reporting procedures and ensured that your daughter received medical attention. We understand how upsetting this was for your family. While we strive for full transparency, we must also follow legal and privacy obligations regarding the release of CCTV footage. We regret that the footage did not capture the incident clearly, and we acknowledge how frustrating that must be. We would also like to address the concerns raised about hydration and feeding. Our educators are trained to monitor children’s food and water intake closely, and we encourage regular hydration throughout the day. However, if there were any gaps in communication or record-keeping, we are reviewing our internal processes to ensure we maintain our high standards of care. We understand that trust is central to early childhood education, and we are truly sorry to hear that you no longer feel confident in our service. Please know that your feedback is being taken seriously, and we are committed to continuously improving our care practices, communication, and staff training. If you are open to further discussion, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly so we can understand your concerns in more detail and work towards a resolution. Kind regards, Belonging Early Learning Hornsby
