Babies:

The educators believe that a play-based approach is the best way for young children to learn. Play enhances their exploration, growth, and development. The educators believe in building a trusting relationship with babies so they feel safe, secure, and supported in their learning environment. In the under two year olds, the focus is on exploration and discovery, allowing children to grow and develop as they learn through play.  

The program in the babies room offers different opportunities to young children such as music and movement, sensory exploration, art experiences, group time, numeracy and literacy experiences, and indoor and outdoor experiences. The program also supports the children to achieve their milestones in the developmental area of physical well-being, social and emotional well-being, cognitive skills, and language skills.

Toddlers:

For the two to three year olds, the toddler room is equipped for exploration and learning. Both the indoor and outdoor environments are designed to create an environment that is home-like, nurturing and stimulating, whilst still providing appropriate levels of challenges and risks. As toddlers develop, their communication skills develop, and they learn to focus, discover, explore, and play. The qualified early childhood educators help each child develop their interests and strengths through a curriculum of play-based learning activities that promote a hands-on learning style that helps children gain sensory sensitivity, creativity, and independence. 

Some of the activities include yoga, music and movement, show and tell, group time, early literacy and numeracy skills, art and craft, sensory exploration, incursions, and indoor-outdoor experiences. The program also supports the children to achieve their milestones in the developmental area of physical well-being, cognitive skills, social and emotional well-being, and language skills.

The centre also offers an early experience in the scientific concepts of daily life by organising fun-based science activities for toddlers.

Preschool:

The centre’s school readiness program for children aged 3-5 runs five days a week in small groups to help children learn and grow in primary school preparation. During this program, the children learn a variety of literacy and numeracy skills, including writing their names, visual identification of letters and numbers, simple mathematics sequences, recognition of complex 2D and 3D shapes, literacy development including handwriting, phonics and pre-reading skills, workbook time on a daily basis as well as taking care of their belongings, self-care, and language and social skills.

The curriculum focuses on expanding project based learning to include fairness, social justice, inclusion and equality, as well as cultivating social and emotional skills such as resourcefulness, critical thinking, curiosity, problem-solving, initiative, independence, and resilience. Children are encouraged to take on responsibilities within the room in a literacy-rich environment. In addition, the children participate in countless art experiences, science experiments, mathematics, language classes, cooking experiences, music and movement, yoga and sports, incursions, a news program, and group times where the children get to share their ideas and enhance their public speaking skills. 

The preschool program’s goal is to help children gain independence, a positive sense of self, self-motivation, and a love of learning as they prepare for school.

School Readiness Program: includes Literacy, Numeracy, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Environmental Studies, Arts and Mathematics), and is designed to help prepare children for the next steps to formal education.

Language Program: this is a fun and interactive way for children to learn new languages, enhancing their creativity and mental versatility.

Yoga: is a part of the daily routine and includes storytelling, meditation, breathing exercises and yoga poses. Yoga teaches children how to focus, strengthen, stretch, balance, and have a healthy body image.

Cooking Program: promotes and encourages positive healthy eating and teaches children an important life skill that will benefit them for years to come.

Enrichment Programs: includes Music & Movement, Incursions & Excursions, Multisport and In-Campus Sustainability Program.

At Kinder Academy Early Learning Centre Asquith, meal time is considered family time, with educators sitting with children and leading them by example. The food for the service is provided by an external provider, Kids Gourmet Food. The centre’s six-week rotating seasonal menu provides fresh, nutritious, home style, Australian and multicultural food. Menus have been certified by a childhood nutritionist and dietician, under the guidance of Nutrition Australia.

Morning 

Alexandra is ten months old and loves going on excursions in the pram with her nursery friends. Today they’re heading to the local park to see what birds they can spot in the trees.

Lunch 

Alexandra is playing with some soft blocks on the mat before she heads off for a nap in the sleeping area. Her educator reads her some books before preparing her for a rest. 

Afternoon

Alexandra loves music, and today the educators have set out lots of small musical instruments for the children to explore.
