About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber
Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years
Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.
Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.
Morning
Bianca is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Bianca is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Bianca has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Bianca a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Bianca and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Bianca’s favourite book.
Morning
Hunter is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Hunter is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Hunter identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Hunter is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Hunter is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Hunter picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Hunter and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Hunter enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Hunter is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Hunter’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Gina is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Gina and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Gina is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Gina sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Gina takes part in the centre’s sports program. Gina loves sports. Sports helps Gina improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Gina is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Gina and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.
Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

My daughter attended this Centre for less than a year at 1 years old; in this time frame was moved into multiple different rooms within the centre due to the unprofessionalism provided by the room leaders. My daughter had her face hit resulting in drawing blood in multiple areas of her face, bottle broken, “tripped on her own shoe” & went head first into the corner of the door frame resulting in a large bump in the centre of her forehead for over a week, ALL occurring on her first day/ week. They inappropriately apply nappy rash cream & do not check the expiry dates, resulting in myself needing to address this issue with the centre manager & educators on numerous occasions. My daughter had a nappy rash the whole period of attending Greenwood; Nappy rash would be gone over the weekend, back to severely bad by Monday afternoon after just a couple of hours back at daycare. Irregular nappy changes that I had to constantly call them up about nearly daily. I have picked up my daughter before in a nappy nearly sagging to her knees & poo remaining on her from not being correctly changed/ wiped. They insist on putting a lot of responsibility on toddlers, resulting in needing to look for your child’s belongings for an excessive amount of time upon each pick up due to “we tell the kids to put their things together”. This also being the key factor on why so many belongings go missing! - Staff members belongings even going missing from the staff room! My daughter was handed a cracker & stale bread with 100’s & 1000’s on it every day the whole period of her attending, this is something that’s extremely normalised at this centre resulting in 90% of the children refusing to eat the meals offered to them. My daughter was hurt, bit, pushed & kicked on numerous occasions with next to no consequences or discipline provided to the other children & more-so normalised instead of implementing change & improvements to ensure the safety of the children. The fee’s they’re asking for, do NOT align with the level of care provided by this centre. They should consider improving the centre & staff prior to increasing the fee’s. High staff turnover & nearly all the staff provide immature, unprofessional behaviour which includes laughing when kids have been hurt or during the times where kids are fighting. 9x out of 10, your child will be blamed for getting hurt by another child. They put random amounts on your Xplor app with extremely questionable statements resulting in not being able to fully understand it yourself. On numerous occasions I have reached out to the previous management to ask what the extra money is for appearing on my Xplor app, “I’ll fix that for you” followed by the amount randomly disappearing? Your subsidy percentage will not align with what you’re left to pay out of pocket every week. Since moving my daughter to a new centre, I see no faults at all & I wish I made the move sooner! My daughter has learnt far more at her new daycare in 4 weeks, then the almost year period of her attending Greenwood. I would not recommend this Centre. Read more

My child attended this center for four years, and for the most part, it was a positive and supportive environment. Unfortunately, things took a complete turn in the last few months following major staff and management changes. Since then, the standard of care has dropped significantly—particularly in the Preschool rooms. The new educators display childish and unprofessional behavior, show little control or structure in the classroom, and demonstrate a clear lack of engagement with the children. I was especially concerned by the poor handling of my child, and the way normal child behavior was dealt with—often in ways that felt dismissive, inappropriate, and distressing. This kind of care is unacceptable, especially at the price families are paying. The current service does not reflect the high fees being charged, and it’s disappointing to see the center lose the quality it once had. I truly hope the management takes these issues seriously and acts quickly to restore the standard of care that children and families deserve. Read more
