Whether your child attends an early learning centre, preschool, family day care, occasional care or outside school hours care, there's no doubt that early childhood educators play an important role in their lives.

An early childhood educator contributes to the wellbeing and healthy development of children in early learning services and Early Childhood Educators' Day is a great opportunity to thank them for their efforts and give a little back. Here are eight ways that you and your child can get involved in celebrating Australia's early childhood educators – with a little inspiration from this video.

  1. Make a Thank You card or gift for your educator, e.g. a painted flower pot or pasta necklace
  2. Create a drawing, painting or decoration for them
  3. Write a poem or short story about them
  4. Give them some flowers, hand-picked from your garden
  5. Share some homemade morning tea with them
  6. Contribute to an Appreciation Tree or Wall at your service, see here for some templates
  7. Join in any fun activities your service has planned to invite families, e.g. a dress-up day or tea party, or mini show day
  8. Post photos of your Early Childhood Educators Day creations like super hero party decorations or super hero props and celebrations to social media, there are some great prizes up for grabs

All in all, it's the thought that counts. So, however you mark the Day, please take the time to thank your super educators for all they do to enrich the early years of your child's life.
