Roles and Responsibilities:

My last position in England was based in a setting in primary school based in Coventry in a deprived area, where we currently have around 220 pupils aged from 3 – 11 years. When I joined the school I was based in the Year one class, assisting and supporting the children with the their work leading towards the key stage one S.A.TS by taking small groups and presenting with additional teaching ,I moved to year two where I continued these additional teach groups and supported experienced teachers and newly qualified teachers (NQT).I was then employed by Coventry Council still within the school to help run and manage a Wrap around club for children aged 3-11 years olds to support looked after children, working parents and deprived children who needed food and additional educational needs, I was promoted to manager for the service after being Deputy manager for two years, I have been the manager for the last 3 years. The service has been up and running for the last 5 years it has established well amongst parents, it allocates up to 16 places at a time in the morning and evening where we have 1:8 ratio but due to receiving an ‘outstanding’ inspection our numbers have increased to 24 places at a time. I manage a team which consist of 4 people, I see myself as a fair leader who aims for success.

My key roles as manager include; leading a small team of educators, be responsible of all bookings and accountancy, plan a stimulating, age appropriate curriculum , work in close partnership with the local authority , train own staff and from neighbouring centre and keep on top of own training inorder to provide an excellent service.

• Proved myself with quality work and care which led to my promotion.
• Worked as a team leader

Voluntary work
Stay and play

I have been volunteering at Lillington Children’s Centre since April 2010, helping to supervise stay and play sessions for children aged 0-3 years old . I carry out these sessions in my half term holidays. These sessions have allowed me to interact with families in the community and have a better understanding of how children’s centre support parents/carers and children.

Chatter Matters

I have also been volunteering at a neighbouring Children’s Centre since August 2010, supporting families with babies\ toddlers focusing on communication and interaction between child and adult, through a variety of activities such as rhymes, free play and story time. This has given me an insight into the high impact of early interaction and communication skills.

Tapping Primary School
Perth WA

In 2011, I was given a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working at Tapping Primary school in Perth, where I worked with kindergarten aged children. I was able to observe and participate in activities within the classroom and outside. This experience allowed me to see how the education system differs to the education system in England. It allowed me to see how much the environment plays a major part on young children’s learning and development.
