Childcare Assistant

During my time at Sunflower as a childcare assistant I have been responsible for caring for children in the 0-2 year room and 3-5 year room. I actively involve myself by engaging with the children on all levels through stimulating play and age appropriate activities. I assess and monitor each child's developments and gain an understanding or each child's individual needs.

I enjoy providing varied and difference experiences for children.

Outside of my working hours at Sunflower I have also babysat for a number of private families with children ranging in age from newborn to teenage years. I often ask what the child's likes/dislikes are and what they are interested in so I can take some appropriate activities along with me when I babysit.

The jobs that I do when care for the children are the following:

* taking them out to parks/shops.
* bringing things over that they have an interest in for them to play with.
* changing nappies.
* putting them to bed.
* providing meals.

Ensuring parents feel safe leaving their child in my care by having positive communication and relationships with them. Ensuring children feel safe and supported in my care by interacting with them and making them feel safe under my care.
