Caring for two children now aged 7 and 5 years, 2 full days per week (12hr shifts). When I first started in this role the kids were aged 3 and 1 years where I was responsible for organising fun daily outings to the park, library, beach and playdates with other kids. I would also put together a schedule of educational activities and games and plan our day in advance to ensure that the children were kept stimulated and entertained at all times, we would read stories, cook, play age appropriate games, letters and numbers, arts and crafts etc. I would settle them for naps and carry out all associated household chores. The children grew and both started going to school so I was responsible for the after school routine as well.

2011 – Feb 2015

Caring for two children aged 3 and 6 years, 2 days per week every Monday & Wednesday (10hr days). The eldest was in school so I would make sure the children were up and ready for the days, school bag packed, lunch, morning/afternoon tea and all that was needed for school that day. I would arrange activities with the younger child, very similar to the above role.

2011 – July 2014

Caring for three children aged 1, 4 and 7 years every Tuesday & Wednesday (12hr Days). This was a busy household which I juggled and managed well. This role was a combination of the responsibilities outlined in the above two roles.

During this time I was floating in between the two different aged rooms (0-2 and 3-5 years). I would write programs for the children, monitor and record each child’s progress, gain an understanding of each individual child’s needs and liaise with senior staff members and parents on all levels. I supervised outdoor and indoor play, fed and settled the babies, arts and crafts, stories and reading etc. Ensured that a clean and healthy environment was maintained at all times.

During this time I was working as a casual nanny/babysitter for the above listed families on an on-call basis when they needed me.

Again I was floating between the two rooms, however as I was completing my studies I would assist with the programming and learn about the varying age appropriate activities and how to monitor and record the develop of each child. The children responded to me very well and I became attached to them very quickly.
