About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber
Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing!
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn taking, developing self confidence and emotional self regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years
Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.
Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, is supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Lastly, ensuring that all children are ready for the ‘big school’ by preparing them for all that ‘big school’ has to offer.
Morning
Anita is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Anita is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Anita has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Anita a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Anita and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Anita’s favourite book.
Morning
Luca is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Luca is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Luca identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Luca is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Luca is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Luca picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Luca and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Luca enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Luca is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Luca’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Ava is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Ava and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Ava is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Ava sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Ava takes part in the centre’s sports program. Ava loves sports. Sports helps Ava improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Ava is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Ava and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.
Our centre offers children nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

“Building strong bonds with children is at the heart of understanding their individual needs and interests.”
My journey in early childhood education began in 2014, and I’ve been proud to be part of Cartwright World of Learning since 2019. I’ve gained valuable experience as an educator, developing my passion for supporting children as they grow, learn, and achieve their full potential.
What I love most about early childhood education is being part of each child’s unique journey. Watching children reach milestones and develop new skills is incredibly rewarding, and it drives me to create an environment where they can thrive. I’ve learned that building strong bonds with children is at the heart of understanding their individual needs and interests. This approach helps me provide the right support and encouragement for each child, empowering them to strive for their highest potential.
At Cartwright World of Learning, we are purposefully designed to offer a rich and inspiring environment filled with resources, sensory materials, and engaging activities that encourage curiosity and creativity. In our group setting, children develop friendships, independence, and confidence as they explore, make choices, and adapt to new experiences. These skills not only prepare them for school but also help them build a strong foundation for future success.
Our team at Cartwright World of Learning is truly exceptional, with many long-standing educators who bring experience, passion, and dedication to their roles. Together, we create a welcoming, family-like atmosphere where every child is known, cared for, and supported.
Building strong relationships with families is a key part of my role. We communicate daily, check in when families aren’t present, and foster open conversations to ensure everyone feels connected and valued. The incredible bonds we share with our families are a testament to the positive environment we strive to create for every child. I’m proud to lead a centre where children and families feel supported, inspired, and part of a community.
I look forward to welcoming you to our early learning centre in Cartwright.

My kids have been to a few and this by far is worth every cent even more. The amazing staff go beyond and above for our kids. Could not recommend this centre more. The home cooked food they get makes me hungry as soon as I walk in the door and considering my fussy eater manages to eat miss Tracey's food every day it must be good. The friendly staff always try to make you and your family feel welcome. Every Christmas Easter Halloween book week there's always a celebration also mothers day and fathers day we get to attend the centre and do activities with our little ones. Love love love Read more

My son comes to this centre and everyday he’s got something new to tell me about how nice his teachers are and how much fun he has at childcare playing with his friends and doing so many activities he enjoys. I have put my son in other childcare’s but was forced to take him out because he was complaining about how he didn’t like going and wasn’t having any fun. Cartwright world of learning has honestly taught my son so much more about taking care of himself and sharing. And especially behaving. My son and I love this centre and the educators are the sweetest people ever. They’re always asking what my son enjoys and it means so much to me that they take into consideration how he will enjoy his day at childcare. Read more

Been wanting to write this review for a very long time but kept putting off but everytime i see the bruise on my sons face (still months after leaving), i had to give a honest review. I had my son enrolled in the baby room for almost a year since he was 1yo. He never settled in and always cried on the floor whenever I dropped him off. The staff kept telling me that some kids will take long time. I trusted them and gave benefit of the doubt and thought it might be him taking longer to settle. I should have trusted my gut instinct. Six months in one day he came home with a purple bruise on his ears, emailed manager with no reply. No incident reports. The teachers didn't even notice this happened. I'm sure he must have cried in pain when this happened. It was purple in colour and he would not allow us to touch it for a week due to pain. Second time I noticed a bruise on his face when I went to pick him up. That's the first thing I saw, it was very visible. Yet teacher on duty again didn't notice or pretend not to notice. She tells me that it could have happened in the morning. But I could not believe how they never notice such things. Again I emailed manager with no reply, no incident report, no follow ups. I had to call them following days to speak to a regular teacher. This was another big issue I had, if you want to know what your child did during the day, do not send them here. The reason I say this is because they have casual teachers who start at 3pm and they have no idea what happened during the day. They will just tell "he had a good day" or "check the app" BTW app was never up to date on time. One of the regular teacher was good but everybody else had no idea what was going on. Another reason to remove my child from their care is their lack of cleaning. They have only cleaners in the baby room only 3 times per week which I think is no where near enough in a place where kids are constantly sick (plus in the middle of covid). My son was sick almost every week from here and may have had only less than 10 weeks without sickness in the whole year. He is now very well settled in a new daycare. No crying no fighting. Happy as anything to go to his teachers and friends. Not once got sick since moving him in October 22. I am glad I removed him from here. Better late than never. Seeing all these positive reviews reminded me that they used to ask parents to give reviews. Also many staff have kids going there and I can see some staff names giving 5 star reviews. If anyone planning to send your child here, do your research and if your mumma instinct tells you there is something wrong, believe it and remove your child. Read more
