Day after day and year after year, Early Childhood Educators bring a special type of care and commitment to our under-fives’ lives. They sprinkle fun into every day, and help our children learn, grow and thrive by providing enriching experiences and genuine connections.

Educators contribute to the wellbeing and healthy development of children, and Early Childhood Educators' Day (celebrated this year on September 7, 2022) recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. See the Early Childhood Educators’ Day video here.

Educators also support parents through thick and thin, and since the great challenges of COVID-19 they’ve continued to provide safe and essential child care when we’ve needed it most.

Because of this support, care and education and everything else Early Childhood Educators do for our families, it’s important to take the time to say thank you and recognise all they contribute to our lives. Here are 10 suggestions for how you can thank your important educators this year, while getting creative and getting your kids involved too:

  1. Make a thank you card or gift for your educator, e.g. a painted flower pot or pasta necklace;

  2. Create a drawing, painting or decoration for them;

  3. Write a poem or short story about them;

  4. Give them some flowers, hand-picked from your garden;

  5. Share some homemade morning tea with them;

  6. Join in any fun activities your service has planned, e.g. a dress-up day or tea party;

  7. Post photos of your Early Childhood Educators Day creations and celebrations to social media, there are some great prizes up for grabs;

  8. Write a short story or poem, detailing all the things your child loves about their care-giver;

  9. Print out shapes for your child to add to an appreciation wall or thank you tree at your service;

  10. Last, but definitely not least, say “thank you” to your educator at drop-off or pick-up.

This year, and every year, we’re so grateful for the efforts of our educators, and we wish you all a very happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day.
