I have been working 50hrs per week since starting my position with SIHC. My role involves assisting families with additional needs and children at risk of harm or neglect. The family I worked with in particular was a single mother (ex drug user) with 8 children aged new born to 24yrs. Six out of eight children had autism and other related disabilities (dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, ODD, etc). The mother fell terminally ill during my time there and has recently passed away. I assisted and supported the mother and children with their needs by implementing programs, educational activities/experiences, attending therapies, medical appointments, general housekeeping, basic meals, reports, etc.

During my time at Belmore I experienced work at their Seymore Parade and Margaret Street centres which involved filling in on the absence of staff. I was then asked to be the room leader of the 2-3yrs at their Matraville centre. By my ninth month I was offered a 2i/c position and was in training at their Prairiewood centre. I shortly moved back to their Leppington centre and was 2i/c and room leader of the 3-4yrs for 13mths. During this time I directed the centre for 2mths in the director’s absence.
