Sydney In Home Care
October 2013 – Present

I have been working 50hrs per week since starting my position with SIHC. My role involves assisting families with additional needs and children at risk of harm or neglect. The family I worked with in particular was a single mother (ex drug user) with 8 children aged new born to 24yrs. Six out of eight children had autism and other related disabilities (dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, ODD, etc). The mother fell terminally ill during my time there and has recently passed away. I assisted and supported the mother and children with their needs by implementing programs, educational activities/experiences, attending therapies, medical appointments, general housekeeping, basic meals, reports, etc.

Englorie Park Childcare
June 2013 – October 2013

I was employed full time at this centre working in the 3-5 year olds room. I worked closely with the 3-year-old group. I planned and implemented the programs, learning experiences and projects for this age group as well as all observations and learning stories using the EYLF. This position also involved general housekeeping chores, meal times, rest times and maintaining a safe and happy learning environment for all children. I developed a good relationship with the children, families and staff at Englorie Park Childcare.

Bright Sparks ELC
May 2012 – June 2013

I was employed as a permanent part time employee for Bright Sparks ELC whilst studying a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood & Primary). In this position I worked with all ages from 6 weeks to 6 years as well as before and after school care. I had experience in all rooms and assisted with general housekeeping and day to day running of the centre.

This position was temporary full time consisting of four, eleven-hour days and extended hours or weekends if needed. This was a sole charge position looking after four children aged 10,8,7 and 5 as well as maintaining the household. The role involved taking children to and from school and after school activities. Making school lunches, snacks and meals. Keeping the house, children’s bedrooms and play rooms tidy, making beds, changing sheets once per week, all washing hung and folded, ironing children’s clothes/uniforms and putting them away, running occasional errands, etc.

Care For Kindies Kindergarten
2i/c – Room Leader
September 2008 – August 2011

Once completing my Diploma, I gained this position after enquiring about an advertisement and successfully completing an interview. I started as an assistant of the 3-4yrs at their Leppington centre and became room leader of 0-2yrs within 6wks. Within two months I was offered a position as room leader of 3-5yrs at their Belmore centre. During my time at Belmore I experienced work at their Seymore Parade and Margaret Street centres which involved filling in on the absence of staff. I was then asked to be the room leader of the 2-3yrs at their Matraville centre. By my ninth month I was offered a 2i/c position and was in training at their Prairiewood centre. I shortly moved back to their Leppington centre and was 2i/c and room leader of the 3-4yrs for 13mths. During this time I directed the centre for 2mths in the director’s absence. I was last working as 2i/c at their Prairiewood centre as well as room leader of the 0-3yrs. My role involved maintaining a happy, hygienic, safe and home like environment, running the centre in the directors absence, telephone skills, use of computers, fees/accounts, ordering, planning, programming, observing, interpreting, follow-ups, evaluations, supervision, rostering, teamwork, etc.
