Cover Letter

Having completed my Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in November, 2019, I am now looking to secure work as a Live-in AuPair/Nanny so I can experience working with different families. I am happy to travel Australia Wide or stay in my local area of Melbourne.

My friendly and positive attitude, love of children and great work ethic, drives me to look for employment in the “live in” nanny/au pair industry.

Babysitting/nanny is something I truly love doing. I have been babysitting a 3 year old girl at least once a week for the last 18 months. It is such a privilege to be able to watch her grow and know I have been a part of her development. In addition to this, taking on casual babysitting roles with other families has seen me responsible for multiple children of different ages from newborn to late primary school age at the one time. I am able to cater for the needs of different kids in the one setting and adapt to the individuality of all. I have a holistic view of the role of a babysitter/nanny and place equal importance in the physical, emotional and educational wellbeing of the kids. Building a positive and close relationship with the whole family, parent and kids, is a major priority for me to ensure that I am fulfilling my role as the family nanny.

I currently live at home but am very independent, having travelled overseas on my own in the past. Now is a fantastic time in my life to look at moving interstate and experience what Australia has to offer. Being part of a family environment is very important to me, so I feel a role as a live in nanny would be a perfect blend of both.

As a self-driven and motivated person, I am extremely hard working, reliable and cooperative and am always happy to take instructions while still being able to use initiative with tasks. I have strong written and verbal communication skills and implementing great time management comes naturally to me. I enjoy building on, or developing, new knowledge and skills and see this role as a fantastic opportunity to foster this further. I work well both individually and within a team and cope very well when under pressure.

After completing my VCE at the end of 2019 and deciding not to pursue tertiary study, I have complete availability to commit to a live in nanny role. With the independence of my (automatic) driver’s license and own car (if needed), I am able to safely transport (myself and children) to and from any locations required. As of the beginning of 2020, I received my Working with Children’s Check Victoria (WWCC) that allows me to pursue employment within the babysitter/nanny industry. I am happy to gain the same check for any other state. I also have my current senior first aid certificate, so can confidently respond to any emergency situation (if one was to occur).
