At Great Beginnings Aveley, the rooms are divided up according to the ages of the children. Each area is designed to provide the best possible early learning experience for each child, and to help them develop a love of learning.
A combination of indoor and outdoor activities are planned for the children. The routines arranged by the educators allow for individual learning, small group learning, and large group learning.
Nursery rooms

Educators try to provide a home away from home where children feel safe and secure. The children’s wellbeing and development is the focus, with age appropriate activities. Children take part in tummy time, sensory play, reading and singing. There is a private feeding room for parents to use anytime.
Toddler rooms

Educators encourage the children to learn through play, to encourage development. This will take the form of music, dance, games, reading and technology. Group play is designed to develop confidence and social skills. Books and language games are enjoyed, to develop communication, literacy and numeracy.
Kindergarten rooms
3 years - 5 years
The children learn through play to encourage development, through music, dance, games, reading and lots of outdoor fun. Educators encourage group play to develop communication, confidence and social skills. Risky play and extra-curricular activities are encouraged in a safe space to build up resilience and independence. A school readiness program focused on numeracy and literacy will help children prepare for the next step in their education. Children lead the curriculum depending on their interests and preferences.
Educators at Great Beginnings Aveley ensure that children feel safe, supported and challenged to learn new things and participate in new experiences. The dedicated, diverse group of educators seek to make sure that the environment is inviting, natural, stimulating and engaging, and that it reflects the children’s personalities and interests. Educators forge strong bonds and build relationships with the families at the centre, to ensure that the children feel right at home. Parents can access photos and updates about their child’s day through the centre’s free app.
Educators strive to create a calm, comfortable environment where each child feels safe. The highly trained team of educators are hand-picked to support the children and their learning. Educators value their centre’s connection to the local community, as they understand that sharing the history and culture of the area is a powerful way to give the children a sense of belonging and connection.
Educators want to give children the best possible start on their next steps at school, which is why they focus on the children's social development, confidence and independence at a young age. The high quality program helps children become active in their own learning and sees them evolve into confident, creative and successful learners.
The centre believes they can help to give children their best start in life by providing healthy, nutritious meals daily. Food is used as a way to teach the children about the benefits of healthy eating. All of the seasonal meals and snacks are provided for the children by the centre’s in-house chef, with all meals approved by government nutrition programs. The centre’s focus is on offering the children simple, nutrient-rich, unprocessed and seasonal whole foods - designed to tempt even fussy eaters.
Children who attend a full day at the centre will be offered at least 50 per cent of their recommended daily dietary intake. Children are taught about the benefits of growing food by helping out with the centre’s own vegetable garden.
The children enjoy lunches such as chicken paella, lamb koftas, lasagne, or fish with veggies. For their snacks, there are fruit and veggie platters, crackers with vegetable packed dip, and plenty of homemade baked goods including scrolls, scones and banana bread.

In January 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) came into effect across Australia.
The purpose of the NQF is to improve and standardise the quality of child care through a
range of measures including better staff to child ratios, higher staff qualifications
and an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement.
Under the NQF child care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards (NQS).
The NQS measures the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It will cover
most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside school hours care services.
Under these standards child care services will be assessed and rated against the
seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.
