Merrilands Children’s Centre and Kindergarten is a welcoming environment where all children and families are respected, one that encourages all families to share their culture, skills, resources, and knowledge with the children. Families are vital to establishing connections with community organisations and resources that can be used to broaden your child’s understanding of the world.
They provide a well-equipped outdoor environment that encourages children to pursue personal interests and develop both physically and socially. Safe and upgraded facilities will keep your child endlessly entertained, while offering opportunities for learning about nature and the environment.
Their staff speak a range of languages including Italian, Spanish, Filipino, Chinese and Greek and can have all forms of communication translated for families who speak languages other than English.
Their educators are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disability or have experienced challenges and trauma.
They focus on empowering children to make healthy choices by offering engaging lessons on nutrition, food safety, and cooking. Hands-on activities in our garden get them excited about practising healthy eating habits and sustainable living, and they encourage parents to get involved in exposing their children to a range of diverse foods.

In January 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) came into effect across Australia.
The purpose of the NQF is to improve and standardise the quality of child care through a
range of measures including better staff to child ratios, higher staff qualifications
and an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement.
Under the NQF child care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards (NQS).
The NQS measures the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It will cover
most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside school hours care services.
Under these standards child care services will be assessed and rated against the
seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.
