Goodstart Early Learning Carrum Downs - Arcadia Street

Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills. 

The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.

The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.

Hi, I’m Vanessa Martel, and I’m the Centre Director here at Goodstart Arcadia Street in Carrum Downs - Arcadia Street.

I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and am currently studying towards my Graduate Diploma. My journey in early childhood education has spanned over 10 wonderful years with Goodstart, where I have had the privilege to work alongside dedicated Educators, support families, and watch so many children grow and thrive.

My Early Learning values:
I believe that every child deserves a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring environment where they feel safe, valued, and free to explore. These precious early years are the foundation for lifelong learning, and I am passionate about creating opportunities that spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a genuine love for learning.

What I love about our community:
Our community is full of warmth, connection, and support. The relationships we build with families, children, and the local community create a real sense of belonging. Whether it's celebrating special events, partnering with local groups, or simply sharing daily conversations, it's the people that make our centre so special.

A little more about me:
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with my family, and travelling. I love exploring the world, experiencing different cultures, and trying new cuisines. Every new experience adds to my passion for learning and discovery.
