Maroubra Neighbourhood Children’s Centre (MNCC) is truly exceptional. It’s a community-based, not-for-profit centre where all fees and fundraising go back into the children, which really shows in the quality of care. We found it through a neighbour who worked there and said she’d never experienced a daycare like it — and after 1.5+ years, we couldn’t be happier. The educators are amazing, there’s full transparency, and you can be as involved as you like through the committee. It feels like a real community, not a service. Plus, being right in front of Maroubra Beach is such a bonus for after-pickup playtime. Highly recommend!

Maroubra Neighbourhood Children's Centre is a wonderful non-for-profit centre. It’s small and nurturing, with only 8 children in the babies’ room, 10 in the toddlers’ room, and 10 in the preschool room. Some of the staff have worked there for over 10 years, and highly qualified, plus additional educators above the recommended ratios. My son attended for almost two years, and I feel confident dropping him off at MNCC. The educators are genuinely lovely with the children and take great care of them. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

MNCC is a special place that can’t be recommended enough. The educators are lovely, warm and care so genuinely for all the kids. Somehow they manage to go above and beyond for your child, even while caring for other children and doing one of the toughest jobs out there! Our child has been attending for the last 7 months, and she loves it and “talks” about the educators and her friends all the time. We previously attended another daycare and after being at MNCC, the difference is night and day in terms of the care she receives. We are very happy, the best choice we made.

This place is the best. My son had been to a couple of daycares before this, and it’s so, so much better. The staff are brilliant and there’s been such consistency and they’re always coming up with new activities. There’s great outdoor spaces that they make great use of.

Highly recommend MNCC as a daycare for anyone looking around the Maroubra area. It is everything you hope for as a parent for your children. It’s a small sized, community run centre with educators and staff that are extremely dedicated and wonderful. The environment is nurturing, caring and fun with exciting activities and even a beach kindy for the older kids. Our son has really blossomed here and he looks forward to going everyday!

My 3yo son has loved MNCC from the moment he walked in. The attention and care from the educators and warmth from the other children made our transition from another centre absolutely seamless. I love hearing his excitement as he tells me about music class, gardening, excursions and playing with his friends.

The Maroubra Neighbourhood Children's Centre is an incredibly special place and community oriented daycare which has served the local community here for over 40 years. We love the genuine community spirit, philosophy of child centred development, its small size, ample outdoor spaces for play, its location on a quiet street and close proximity to the beach and nature. The incredible and dedicated educators are the heart and soul of the centre. I was amazed upon joining how highly experienced so many staff are having worked at MNCC for many years. The educators have done so much for us as our daughter joined the centre and helped us manage the transition really well. MNCC's programs are child focused and involve wonderful extra activities ranging from music, yoga and growing bush tucker in the front garden beds. Importantly for us, MNCC is a not-for-profit co-operative. This is a vanishingly rare model of Early Childhood Education and Care in Australia where sadly large for-profit providers that value profit over quality care and the wellbeing of staff now dominate the market. The co-operative model also provides lots of wonderful opportunities to get to know other families and build a local support network. The Centre really stood out for us when we toured local centres in the eastern suburbs, especially given it is such a rare not-for-profit model. Highly recommend it to families in the local community.

My son has been attending MNCC for over a year and we couldn’t be happier with the level of care he receives. The educators are warm, attentive and incredibly creative — they set up engaging activities every day and organise fantastic incursions like yoga and music that the kids absolutely love. It’s a small centre with a strong community feel, and you can really tell the team has the children’s wellbeing at heart. We also really appreciate the thoughtful updates on key milestones and daily experiences. We couldn’t recommend MNCC more highly to other families looking for a nurturing, high-quality early learning environment.
