Kindergarten/Preschool Programs
Kindergarten/Preschool Programs
Our school readiness program begins from the moment children enter our centre. Building children’s confidence, strong sense of self, conflict resolution skills, creativity and collaboration are part of our program from the start.
Your child will have many opportunities to engage with literacy and numeracy. This will also be scaffolded and extended upon. In the , we run a dedicated Transition to School Program for children and their families. This program is delivered by Early Childhood Teachers in consultation with local primary schools and will extend children’s social and emotional skills to build sound foundations for primary school.
Children will build their confidence and resilience levels, become accustomed with school routines and lunchboxes, learn how to work in teams, develop independence and much more.
For more information about our Transition to School Program, please enquire with our Centre Manager and Early Childhood Teachers based in the preschool rooms.
Programs
Programs
All our programs at Malabar Early Education and Care are based on children’s strengths, knowledge, interests, concepts, and cultural backgrounds. The National Quality Framework stipulates that learning occurs best through play-based experiences.
Your child will enjoy;
- Interesting and engaging experiences providing opportunity for inquiry, exploration, discovery and problem-solving
- Active engagement with people, objects and representations
- Experiences and provocations based on children’s emerging concepts and thinking
- Rich play experiences by sourcing materials and creating environments which engage children’s sense of curiosity, wonder and investigation
- Opportunities for the development of a wide range of skill areas: social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical
Extensive early childhood research shows that for children under the age of five years, play provides the best vehicle for learning. Children are more likely to persist at something in which they are interested in and play-based learning provides a great context for acknowledging children’s interests.

After withdrawing my son from Gowrie just two days into the program, we were still charged for four additional weeks, totalling over $2,000. I reached out to explain our situation, hoping for some understanding or flexibility — but there was none. They stuck rigidly to their policy with zero consideration for the fact that our child was no longer attending, and that the environment clearly wasn’t the right fit for him. It’s incredibly disheartening to see such a lack of compassion from a centre that presents itself as family-focused. Extremely disappointed — I would urge other families to ask detailed questions about the fine print before enrolling. Read more

I enrolled my son at Gowrie Malabar while looking for a new preschool. He attended two short sessions before I realised it wasn’t the right fit for us. I immediately informed the centre. Despite only attending twice, they insisted on charging me for a full 4-week notice period –over $800 – with zero flexibility or understanding. I explained the situation and asked if they could waive or reduce the fee. The answer was a flat-out no. Our previous preschool didn’t charge us a cent when we left with no notice, but Gowrie was completely uncompromising. They showed no care for our individual circumstances – it felt purely transactional. This experience left me disappointed and frustrated. If you’re looking for a centre that values families and treats you with fairness and compassion, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Read more
Hi Julia, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations during the two weeks you attended the centre. I’m sure you are aware Gowrie NSW is a not-for-profit organisation, and all funds are reinvested into providing high-quality learning and care for children. We work very hard to ensure every child’s development is nurtured and supported, and our vision that children are empowered, active participants in society is realised. Our notice period, as with most providers, is part of the enrolment policy which at Gowrie NSW is four weeks. This is communicated through the enrolment, orientation and transition process so that families are comfortable and confident with the important decision they are making. We are sorry to hear that Gowrie Malabar wasn’t the right fit for your child, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at info@gowriensw.com.au and we will get straight back to you. Warm Regards, The Gowrie NSW team
