Our Philosophy

Birches Early Learning Centre has a commitment to “raising the bar” in early education and the team at Birches ELC work tirelessly to deliver exceptional quality care and education for every child, every day. Our educational philosophies are under-pinned by the widely respected Reggio Emilia approach to learning which supports enquiry and play-based learning experiences in natural and responsive environments. Our learning programs are designed to be emergent in nature and, through reflective practices, are guided by the children’s interests and needs.

Qualified, Experienced and Dedicated Staff

At Birches Early Learning Centre we believe our team of Early Childhood educators are one of our most valuable assets and we could not achieve our goals or honour our philosophies without their knowledge, support and hard work. Our team understand the responsibility that comes with the role of an educator and are committed to ensuring that every child not only enjoys their time with us, but has been exposed to every available developmental and learning opportunity.

Our team approach ensures the individual and collective needs of the children are met in a harmonious and friendly environment. By maintaining a consistent and professional team of staff, we facilitate continuity and familiarity for the children and their families.

Our permanent team of highly qualified and experienced individuals have been selected through an arduous recruitment process that requires the following as a minimum:

  • Working With Children Check
  • First Aid
  • CPR
  • Emergency Anaphylaxis Management and EpiPen administration
  • Emergency Asthma Management
  • Food Handling and/or Food Supervisor Certificate

Our team participate in regular professional development, mentoring and first aid training to ensure they remain at the top of their profession.

All team members hold (or are actively working towards) an early childhood qualification. Our educator-to-child ratios are better than the recommended minimum ensuring high quality care and supervision.

Your team at Birches ELC offer minimum staff turnover and maximum fun!

Fantastic rooms and beautiful outdoor play space. The staff are incredible and my daughter (2yo) loves it there and learning so much. Great communication via email and phone.

Both my 4 year and 18 month old attend birches, and we've been so happy with the transition into a new centre for our 4 year old, as well as starting daycare for our 18 month old. All of the educators have been fantastic and have done such an amazing job during such a tough year.

My 16 month old daughter started at Birches at the beginning of the year and we could not be happier. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the communication is brilliant. My daughter happily goes straight to her educators who she has built a bond with and she is learning new skills everyday. Thank you for everything Birches.

As a new family in Officer and starting childcare during this pandemic I honestly could not be happier with Birches. From the way the staff have approached wearing a mask upon entering the centre in a non invasive way still makes little chloe feel safe. The approaches the owners and staff have taken to making sure we're all safe could not be more appreciated. I'm also really at ease and comforted consider my anxiety with all the regular communication coming home every week it's really put me and hubby at ease knowing she is in great hands.

A child care centre with unrivalled charm and incredibly attentive and accommodating educators. The staff and centre director are all very kind and make it easy for children to settle quickly here. They are also very open and honest with their communication, which is critical in a time like this. If you're considering a centre in the area, I highly recommend you book a tour and experience Birches for yourself.

I can’t recommend this centre enough. Such a positive place for our daughter. Our daughter has been at this centre for almost a year . Didn’t take her too long to settle. She is 18 months old and waves goodbye each time we drop her off. Every one is so friendly, polite and kind. We love it!!!
