We couldn’t be happier with this childcare centre! My son started at 15 months old, and I was initially very uncomfortable about putting him into childcare, however, every one of the educators made the whole transition so reassuring and positive. They genuinely care and pay close attention to each child’s individual needs, which gives me so much peace of mind. The management and team are so smooth, organised, and approachable — communication is always easy and supportive. I love how they provide updates throughout the day, and receiving photos and activity summaries makes me feel connected and reassured. The kids learn through fun, engaging activities, indoors and out, and the healthy meals provided are a huge bonus. Highly recommend — such a caring and supportive environment!

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 12 months – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing!

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn taking, developing self confidence and emotional self regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, is supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Lastly, ensuring that all children are ready for the ‘big school’ by preparing them for all that ‘big school’ has to offer.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.

Our centre offers children nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Hello, my name is Maria. I began my career in early childhood education in 2012. I have a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, and a Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five).

My journey started at  in 2016 as the Early Childhood Teacher, the Educational Leader and 2IC. From 2021, I was lucky enough to lead the Algester team as Centre Manager.

During my ten years of experience in early childhood, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing colleagues, leaders and mentors. My role is important as I am growing little minds and helping to shape our future leaders. The fact that I get to share laughter, investigations, and curiosities with children on an everyday basis makes this role incredibly rewarding.

As an early childhood educator, I have learnt that it is okay to slow down with children and engage in the beautiful moments. Children need to feel safe and secure around you to be able to gain the most out of their learning, especially in the early years. I believe once an educator builds that secure relationship, effective learning and development will occur naturally.

There are many learning benefits of attending a dedicated early childhood education and care centre compared to learning at home. A child’s brain grows at 90% before they reach the age of five. Children absorb so much learning early on in their life. It is important to offer children the opportunity to be in an early childhood setting, where they can gain and develop important life skills.

The team at Algester are dedicated, nurturing, and have extensive knowledge about early childhood. We are also lucky enough to have a diverse team where we embrace different cultures and languages, including Khmer, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and Punjabi. Their backgrounds are incredibly valuable for the children in our community.

Open, honest and effective communication is the key to building relationships with our families. We offer stay and plays before children’s first days and ensure that families get insight on what their child is learning on an everyday basis.

I look forward to welcoming you to .

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Algester World of Learning. You can see every child is treated as an individual, with genuine care, warmth and respect. It’s clear the team takes the time to understand each child’s personality, interests and needs, creating a nurturing environment where they feel safe, confident and valued. The management team is outstanding. Always approachable, professional and highly supportive. They are always open to feedback and consistently go above and beyond to ensure high standards of care and education. One of the most impressive aspects of Algester World of Learning is their long-standing team. Having consistent educators who have been there for years speaks volumes. This continuity has allowed strong, meaningful relationships to be built with my two children. We highly recommend Algester World of Learning to any family looking for a caring, well-managed centre with a dedicated and experienced team. It truly feels like a community.
