We are your local early learning and long day care centre, proudly built on Boonwurrung Country. Our serene nursery nurtures babies, while our toddler space welcomes adventurous explorers up to age three. We also have classrooms for three- and four-year-old kindergarten.
Children enjoy four age-based outdoor nature play spaces featuring sandpits, climbing forts, dry creek beds, vegetable patches, a mud kitchen, slides, and swings that spark imagination and play.

Our high-quality, play based preschool curriculum is delivered by Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Our teachers tailor their programs to ensure all children develop the confidence and social and emotional skills needed for a smooth transition to school. Through play, our Early Childhood Teachers facilitate children’s learning of important language, literacy, numeracy and creative skills.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.
Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.
Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. My name is Upeksha Kulatunge, and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Hampton Park Coral Drive.
I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching and have been working in the early learning sector for almost 20 years. Over the years, I've gained a vast knowledge through my experience working in various roles, including Senior Educator, Early Childhood Teacher, Educational Leader, and Assistant Director, before stepping into my current role as Centre Director.
Being a mother of a primary school-aged daughter, I understand the importance of quality education and early learning, and the impact that it has on our children from an early age. I believe that the first five years are the most important and fundamental period of a child's life, which is why they deserve the best start here at Goodstart Hampton Park Coral Drive.
When I'm not in the centre, you'll find me spending time with my family. We love going for nature walks, picnics, and driving to different places. I love travelling around the world and exploring different cultures.

The educators are simply outstanding!! Their patience, kindness, and genuine love for my kids shine through in everything they do. They take the time to understand my kid’s personality, strengths, and needs, creating a nurturing atmosphere where my kids feel valued and supported. The communication with parents is also exceptional, I’m always kept informed weather its via Routine tab on Story Park or immediate phone call. What truly sets this centre apart is the sense of community. It feels like an extended family. The staff go above and beyond to create meaningful experiences, celebrate special occasions, and ensure each child builds confidence, friendships, and a love of learning. As a mother who’s been to other centres what stood out to me was the consistency of staff. Having the same familiar, trusted educators there each day has made such a difference for my kids. The stability builds strong bonds, creates a deep sense of security, and allows the educators to truly know and support my child’s development. In an environment where consistency can be rare, this level of staff dedication and continuity is absolutely amazing! I cannot recommend this childcare centre highly enough. If you are looking for a safe, nurturing, inspiring place where your child will truly thrive, and you can feel at ease after morning drop offs - THIS IS IT! We transfer from Good start Mount Waverley to Coral drive and its the best decision made as the transition was seamless and our little one also had a transition with no disruption to his routine. He love the place and the staff at Coral drive are amazing and made everything very easy. Highly recommended!
