We were very pleased to get a place offered for our grandson. He and his family were staying with us having left their home and life in the Middle East behind. The short stay at Roly Poly of around ten weeks was not a happy one for our grandson. He felt unwelcomed, tells us he had ‘no friends’ and he ‘didn’t like it’ there. The only thing he remembers fondly was the French lessons which stopped because the teacher was on maternity leave. He is now enrolled in a preschool where his parent teacher feedback today is that he is a star student. Fully settled in after one semester with lots of friends, clever, engaged and creative. We realise was probably unsettled when in Sydney but feel very sad that his experience was so negative.

Cheated and bullied is how I feel after dealing with Roly Poly.
Will stay to bullets for conciseness:
- I paid a “one time refundable bond + enrolment fee” as noted upfront in the official offer email for our daughter.
- Within 7 business days we advised that we needed to cancel due to being offered 5 days at another local campus.
- The payment ($1050) was made more than 2 months prior to the start date with Roly Poly, well over the ‘4 week notice period to terminate or change all enrolments.’
- Despite the bond being clearly noted as ‘refundable’ both upfront in the official email offer and in the FAQs, Roly poly insisted that this was not the case and that (per a clause buried in the email T&Cs) it would be forfeited if you cancel before the child’s start date.
- When we pointed out the variation of critical information such as the impact of canceling before the child’s start date across the FAQ artefact and official offer email T&Cs, this was acknowledged by the Roly Poly Enrolments Manager and it was confirmed that the email T&Cs and FAQs would be reviewed and updated to remove the ambiguity.
- Subsequent to this, we received phone calls from both the Enrolments Manager and Director who both spoke over my wife and I multiple times when we were attempting to highlight the inconsistencies and seek a refund of our bond. The Director told my wife I was rude for asking them to stop talking so much and to let me speak.
- The director made no effort to have a reasonable discussion and didn’t want to hear from us.
- We finally received half our money back when we mentioned proceeding to tribunal for a resolution.
- Regardless of the monetary outcome, the insight into how Roly Poly management deal with situations is concerning .
While each staff member I spoke to on the tour was leaving, two stars as the facility was nicely set up.
While I feel like I have been stolen from, I’m glad I had the opportunity to see their trustworthiness. However, I truly hope no one else ever has to experience this.
