Welcome to O'Shannessy Early Learning Centre!
O’Shannessy Early Learning Centre offers an early childhood experience that is welcoming, inclusive and where children can build a sense of belonging in a home away from home environment.
Our educators and staff are committed to helping each other and building a happy, safe place where children’s education, care and wellbeing is at the forefront of all they do and every decision made.
Learning programs are extended through family involvement, exploration of community and cultural events and children’s own ideas and interests.
A Variety of learning areas are provided to meet the needs of all children, including a studio space which houses our own in-house library for children, families, and educators to explore. Outside you will find play spaces designed to encourage play that incorporates the natural environment and physical movement.
Located in quiet O’Shannessy St, just off the Princes Highway and behind St Patrick’s Primary School, you’ll find us tucked away, and always ready for a busy day of learning.

The incredible staff at O'Shannessy Early Learning have made us feel welcome from day one! It is never easy putting your child in someone else's care, yet I know our baby is safe and well adored here. Every day we are greeted with such friendly staff who almost feel like family. We are super grateful to have found this centre!

I cannot recommend this team high enough. Every single one of the staff are so caring, they’re more than just educators, and they’re like family. I genuinely cannot thank the team enough for helping my son to grow into such a respectful gentleman! The team at O’Shannessy are the village you want to help your child develop. Every day I am amazed at the new and exciting activities my son gets to do, he is certainly never bored!! You won’t regret joining the family at O’Shannessy.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The educators at O’Shannessy Early Learning Centre understand that for children, the first eight years are fundamental in establishing core values, sense of identity, and self-worth.
They see parents and families as the first educator, and that their role is to work together in a collaborative and supportive way on a child’s learning journey.
The educational philosophies at the centre are based on the Reggio Emilia approach to learning which supports enquiry and play-based learning opportunities in natural and responsive environments. The learning programs are designed to be emergent in nature and guided by the children’s interests and needs.
The centre’s learning programs are informed by both the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which is based on the fundamental belief that children’s lives are characterised as “Belonging, Being and Becoming”; and the
Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) which identifies five learning outcomes for children that the centre strives toward:
- Children have a strong sense of identity (IDENTITY)
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world (COMMUNITY)
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing (WELLBEING)
- Children are confident and involved learners (LEARNING)
- Children are effective communicators (COMMUNICATION)
There are five rooms at the centre:
- Nursery: 3 months - 18 months
- Toddler 1: 15 months - 2 years
- Toddler 2: 2 years - 3 years
- Pre Kinder: 3 years - 4 years
- Kinder: 4 years - 5 years

Children are so capable when given the opportunity and right environment, I love seeing them improve and develop new skills, their delighted faces say so much. I believe every child deserves to feel like they belong somewhere.
