During this time I have been working on a casual basis for families within my local community who children ranging in age from newborn to teenage years.  I have been responsible for getting the children up and ready for the day, ensuring school aged children have everything they need for day including packed snacks/lunch, school drop off, organising fun daily outings, age appropriate activities in the home, walks to the park, arts and crafts, stories and reading, cooking, preparing bottles, feeding, changing nappies, settling for naps and all associated household duties.

• Waking the children up, preparing breakfasts, preparing for the day at school /daycare, in- cluding washing, getting dressed, brushing teeth etc 
• Assisting to prepare breakfasts 
• Making school lunches and planning and preparing dinner as required. 
• Drop off and pick up from school and daycare 
• During the day I would attend to tasks as set which may include general house duties, shopping and/or meal prep. 
• Pickup the children from school and daycare 
• Attend to any homework or projects. 
• Structure some activities and playtime 
• Help to get the children ready for and settled for bedtime 
• Read a story.

Responsibilities included: 

• Looking after the children 100% of the time while their parents were away between 1-2 weeks at a time. 
• Staying at the family home 24/7 
• Waking the children up, preparing breakfasts, preparing for the day at school /daycare, in- cluding washing, getting dressed, brushing teeth etc 
• Preparing breakfasts 
• Making school lunches and planning and preparing dinner. 
• Drop off and pick up from school and daycare 
• During the day I would clean up, wash clothes as required, shop and plan ahead. 
• Pickup the children from school and daycare 
• Attend to any homework or projects. 
• Go to the park weather permitting for a play 
• Attend to dinner and wind down from the children’s daytime activities 
• When appropriate talk to the children about their day and then prepare for bed with a story. 

This was done in blocks of 1-2 weeks and was quite demanding although I truly enjoyed this time with these awesome children. I loved seeing them grow through our experience

Working as a Certificate lll and Diploma Educator in both the 0-2 year and 3-5 year rooms where I was responsible for engaging with the children on all levels through age appropriate, stimulating play and educational activities.  Stories and ready, role playing, arts and crafts, letters and numbers, outdoor play and preparing snacks and lunch.  Changing nappies, settling, feeding and liaising with senior staff and parents on all levels. 

I completed 400 hours in a ChildCare Centre to complete my Diploma in 2016.
