About Nido Early School Bassendean

  • Strong partnerships with local organisations, including Midvale Hub Parenting Service and Super You Therapy Bassendean.
  • Programs such as Feelings and Friends for social-emotional learning and Mini Gardeners for sustainability and environmental care.
  • STEM challenges and early literacy programs designed to build confidence and problem-solving skills.
  • Community engagement through local libraries and town initiatives that enrich children’s learning experiences.

At Nido Bassendean, we provide quality early education and care for children from six weeks to six years. Our approach focuses on building strong relationships with each child and supporting their interests through child-led projects and responsive teaching. We are committed to creating a calm, nurturing environment where every child feels seen, valued, and confident.

Safety is always our priority. We follow national child-safe standards, maintain clear supervision, and provide ongoing training for our educators. Families can trust that every child is cared for in a secure and supportive environment.

Learning programs include social and emotional sessions like Feelings and Friends, sustainability projects through our Mini Gardeners program, and communication support with Key Word Sign that encourage confidence, creativity, and a love of learning.

Our environments are thoughtfully designed to spark imagination and exploration. Children enjoy art in our ateliers, shared meals in piazzas, and outdoor adventures in mature gardens, helping them develop new skills and healthy habits for life.

Community is central to Nido Bassendean. We collaborate with local organisations, libraries, and community groups to create enriching experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom.

At Nido, every day is an opportunity to nurture confident, capable learners through safe, inspiring environments and meaningful experiences. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we turn everyday moments into lasting learning that shapes each child’s future.

Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We value strong partnerships with families and actively involve parents in their child’s learning journey. From enrolment, we collaborate with families to understand routines, interests, and goals, tailoring programs to meet individual needs.

Communication is open and transparent, with regular updates, photos, and videos shared through our 'StoryPark' App. Parents are welcome to join events, participate in classroom activities, and enjoy breakfast with their child at our popular breaky bar. Our team is always available for conversations at drop-off, pick-up, or via phone and email, ensuring families feel supported and connected every day.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and aligned with the EYLF to support holistic development. It is co-designed with families and experts to balance literacy, numeracy, creativity, health, and confidence.

Educators follow children’s interests and strengths, creating hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and enjoyable. From STEM challenges and sustainability projects to social-emotional programs and creative arts, our curriculum turns everyday experiences into opportunities for lifelong learning.

My daughter Helena has LOVED her time at Nido but has now moved on to "big" school. We are so happy we chose this centre - the staff, the facilities, the food. 100% recommend!

We've been sending our daughter to Nido Bassendean for 1.5 years now and couldn't be happier. Our daughter feels comfortable and at home there, she adores the educators and always comes home full of stories. The facilities are fantastic and the whole team is warm, welcoming and genuinely caring. We've seen so much growth in her during her time there and we're so grateful to be part of such a special local community.

I can’t speak more highly of the Nido team at Bassendean. My daughter has attended two other daycares and this is the best of them all! Such warm engaging educators who genuinely care for your kids and remember the little things about you & your family. They really are an extended supportive village and we’re so blessed to have found a great fit.
