My nearly 4 year old son has been attending Young Explorers since he was 6 months old and was one of the very first bubs enrolled at the centre. We have watched the centre change and grow over the last 3.5 years and I can honestly say the staff have always been amazing. As a first time Mum leaving her son, I felt so supported knowing my baby was loved and cared for. We always received updates and photos and even received a present from one of my son’s educators on his 1st birthday. Management have always been accomodating, communicated well and helpful. I now send my 1 year old daughter to Young Explorers and she loves it! My son constantly asks if he is going to day care today and runs to the front door excited to go every time ! Thankyou to all the staff at YE you are our village and we are so grateful for all you do

So happy with Young Explorers Coogee, specially the educators in pebbles room. They are amazing and very accomodating. They listen to your concerns and they are so genuine. Thank you so much my son is very happy every time I pick him up. Cheers to the great people at Young Explorers Coogee!

Would not recommend

I withdrew my children from Young Explorers Coogee due to ongoing safety, supervision and staffing concerns. The centre was often out of ratio, relied heavily on agency staff and there was no consistency for the children. My son did not even know the names of his educators and I was repeatedly asked to keep my daughter home because they did not have enough staff. Supervision was unsafe. Children were left sitting in the foyer, water bottles were left empty on hot days and staff focused on tasks like vacuuming instead of meeting basic needs. I also saw children who had toileting accidents being spoken to disrespectfully and changed in front of parents. A major safety issue was the front door which had no handle and could be pushed open by anyone. Several parents discussed this and were extremely concerned. The environment lacked stimulation, toys were rarely cleaned and I never received a single learning observation for my son. Staff turnover was constant and several educators expressed they would not send their own children there. Based on our experience I cannot recommend Young Explorers Coogee. The safety and quality of care were far below an acceptable standard.

Do NOT send your children here. The lack of supervision is appalling. On my child’s last day (when we decided to pull him out) the educators didn’t even know where he was when he was getting picked up. The educators do not help children develop friendships (which is what they should do in their job), the educators do not pick up on things. My child told me he had been hurt by one child multiple times. His last daycare told me as soon as anything happened so I thought this daycare would do the same, well their lack of supervision is probably why nothing was ever reported. I thought if anything was happening then they’d tell me so I wasn’t sure whether to believe him (huge mistake). He hurt his back on his last day and yet no one knew about it. One day I came to drop my child off and heard an educator scream at another child who I believe has a mental disability. Yes, screamed at a disabled child who was crying. There has been a trauma child come in who terrified my child. My child is not there to be an experiment to see if others can cope. Creating fear in my child is not okay. The director Lesley brushed off my concerns for the educators not knowing where my son is and said ‘the walls are 3ft so the children can’t escape’ Yet someone can come in and grab a child. These educators should be monitoring blind spots yet it’s apparent they don’t. They will not help your children. My child went for 3 months and not a single photo was of him playing with others, or happy. There are better places. This place looks nice but the educators needs to focus on critical things.

Young Explorers is a home away from home, the staff make the kids feel safe and secure whilst allowing them to explore, play and have a great time. My son took six weeks to really settle in and there was nothing but patience and kindness, there has been a few changes in staffing since we started in Jan and I feel like things have only gotten better.
