About three years ago, I took my son to the Chatterbox childcare for his very first day. I was there too, since I was doing my student placement. My son didn’t eat morning tea or lunch. He could see the sandwiches prepared for the children, and he kept telling me he was starving, almost to the point of fainting, asking for food. Yet the kindy room teacher wouldn’t allow it, saying he had to wait until 3:00. It was heartbreaking to watch, especially as I was paying $150 a day. My son had no prior routine there, and he was genuinely hungry. Eventually, he became distressed. I felt the environment was highly unprofessional, lacking understanding of childcare laws. I have no positive memories of Chatterbox and consider it one of the worst childcare experiences.

Una, formerly chatterbox, is a great childcare Center. We actually think that the management change has been an improvement in the long run, we really like the new focus and in my view more selective staff that the change to Una has brought. I can only really speak about the Kindy room which out son has attended for over a year now, but our interactions with staff at all levels have been fantastic. Most of all though, the Kindy teachers, Cass and Lawrence (and other great educators) are what make this a wonderful place to come to. They go above and beyond to offer an inspiring, loving, safe and interesting place for our kids to learn in. Their dedication is visible every day, the connection they build with the kids is so warm and personal, and they have gone out of their way to accommodate our son's higher needs. We cannot thank them enough.

Our child has been at the centre since 9 months old (now almost 3) and has absolutely thrived. The educators are caring, the small size of the centre makes it feel warm and personal, and the food and facilities are great. We’re really happy here and highly recommend it!

Una Dutton park feels like home 😊 The centre is beautiful and clean and feels homely the moment you step in the door. The staff are always there to welcome us with a smile in the morning and know all of the children and their families by name, it really does feel like a little family community. I have had nothing but a positive experience with UNA even given the recent management changes. The rooms are so carefully and thoughtfully set up and you can just tell the children are so happy there and are given the opportunity to thrive and explore 🥰

Overall we’ve had a very positive experience here. Having been at Una for over a year now in the nursery and toddlers rooms, it’s definitely had a few changes like others have mentioned in the reviews. But what hasn’t changed is the care, attention and genuine love from the educators. Our little one loves his teachers and friends, and the toys, activities and experiences on offer. The chef is excellent, there’s a variety of food on the weekly menu, and our little one always seems to eat more there than at home. Having a good outdoor space was also important to us and the play area, sandpit and swings are great. Younger and older kids are mixed at points during the day which has helped with transitioning rooms and socialisation. The Storypark updates have varied in the past depending on which educator posts them but currently these are 10/10. It’s a lovely small centre and we’ve been super happy with our experience and the support from the team here.

We made the decision to leave this center after the change in management to UNA. What was once a nurturing and reliable childcare service became deeply disappointing under the new leadership. The transition led to a complete staff turnover, and from that point, the quality of care declined significantly. We experienced frequent and unannounced staffing changes, with little to no communication from management. Our child no longer recognised the carers, and sadly, we witnessed poor interactions—staff ignoring children in distress and dismissing their needs. This created a feeling of unease and loss of trust, and we no longer felt confident or safe leaving our child there. It’s heartbreaking, as this center used to be one of the best. The lack of transparency, consistency, and respect for families’ concerns was ultimately why we left. We sincerely hope improvements are made for the children and families still attending.

We got chased for extra payment 6 months after leaving the centre. Terrible experience from start to finish.

Our children started attending this centre when it was still called Chatterbox. Back then, it was a wonderful experience, but after the centre was sold to a real estate company based in Maroochydore QLD, it rebranded to Una. The glowing reviews you see now are mostly from the Chatterbox days, when the centre was genuinely great. Unfortunately, the new management has not lived up to the expectations set by its predecessor. Despite claiming to be family-owned, the reality is that Una operates more like a corporate entity focused on profit, rather than on the well-being of the children or families. The price increases alone are a clear indication of this shift, with fees rising first on 08 July 2004, and again most recently on 27 January 2025. And yet, the service has reduced in quality. One of the most concerning issues was the change in the food policy. The centre originally had a cook on-site, but Una outsourced meals to a catering company no parent seemed happy with, particularly because of the unhealthy ingredients they used and the Google reviews flagging that catering company. Even more frustrating, they made this change without informing parents, which I believe is a violation of Regulation 172 of the Education and Care Services National Regulations. For months, we paid for meals that were supposedly cooked at the centre, per our enrolment agreement, but these were just outsourced. Initially, they said it was a two-week trial, but by the end of November 2024, there was still no cook. Despite the ongoing problems, Una raised prices from $157 to $166 per day in January 2025. It wasn’t until just recently—10 February 2025—that they finally hired a cook. Even so, they continued using the catering service for one more week, ignoring the parents' months-long objections. This was a huge issue for many families, and many ended up leaving because of it. Communication has also been a major problem. There’s been little to no updates or transparency about what’s going on, especially under the leadership of Una Dutton Park's director, Charmaine. I understand she left the centre by 04 February 2025, but the entire period from when Una took over in 2024, right up until her departure, was a constant source of frustration for parents. It felt like the centre was being run terribly, while prices kept going up. Management also tends to gaslight you when you raise issues with them. It's been horrible. While the educators at Una Dutton Park are still great, and we’re grateful for their care, the overall experience at Una has been incredibly disappointing. I sincerely hope they can turn things around, but at the moment, it feels like we’re being taken advantage of as parents.
