Our educational program is child centred based on the current knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities, strengths and interests of each child are the foundation of the program.

It is communicated to educators by their parents, observed by their educators and contributed by the children. The programming cycle is documented and is readily available to parents. Mighty Brains Academy is passionate about delivering an educational program which allows for children to grow and learn at their own pace.

We believe the first five years of a child’s life is the most crucial, research shows that children’s brain develops rapidly more than any other time in their life. Therefore, by engaging children in a stimulating learning environment, we enable them to learn through a child centred program. To complement our program, we have also incorporated STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) STEM is important because it pervades every part of our lives.

We have also created a holistic school readiness program it promotes interests and assists your child in becoming an active learner. At Mighty Brains Academy, school readiness does not just start with the preschool room in fact it starts from the moment your child walks through the door. It starts in our Nursery room, continues in the Toddlers Room and flourishes in our Preschool Room to create a smooth transition into Kindergarten. All our learning is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, the Australian National Curriculum.

At Mighty Brains Academy, we are committed to build strong relationships with our families. We make family input and participation a top priority in our centre and strive to create bonds between our parents and educators. We highly encourage our families to come by to volunteer or to take an active role in sharing their experiences with the children. To make this possible, we have many special occasions where we invite our parents and families to the centre, to join in and celebrate with us. We believe a parent is a Child’s first teacher!

Yarning circle

Each day, at Mighty Brains Academy educators and children meet for a ‘Yarning Circle’. There, they yarn about what they would like to do during their time in the centre, reflect on their day, what they want to learn about, discussions on their current interest and project as well as making decisions on the learning opportunities to be made available for the day.

Projects

Our projects aren’t chosen by the educators – rather, they are discussed with then agreed upon with the children. It is based on the child’s interest that educators observe that is then a project for children to explore in depth. Our projects are a learning process, it is fun, exciting and hands on! Projects are documented, so we can make the learning progress visible to the families and turned into a folder for children to look back at.
