We are deeply disappointed by the way we were treated by Jemma Cureton, the Centre Manager during a recent discussion regarding our account. The conversation was approached with unnecessary aggression, arrogance, and a complete lack of empathy. As parents already under stress, we expected professionalism and respectful communication, not to feel pressured and humiliated. What shocked us the most was being told that we were “rude” for speaking Italian to each other while discussing our family matters. Italian is our native language, and speaking privately between husband and wife should never be considered disrespectful. At no point were we excluding anyone, we were simply trying to understand the situation together. No family should feel judged or attacked for speaking their own language. The interaction left me extremely upset and in tears, and following this experience we decided to withdraw our children from the centre permanently. We hope management reflects seriously on the importance of compassion, professionalism, and cultural respect when dealing with families.

Highly recommended this centre, I have transferred my children from another to Springfield Lake, I was worried they may need to take few weeks to get used to it, and I can’t believe that it only one week, my pre-kindy boy waved bye to me without any tears, good team and friendly educators.

Response from the owner 22 May 2026

An-Chen, thank you so much for your lovely review and recommendation. We are so pleased to hear your children settled in so quickly after transferring and that your little boy was confidently waving goodbye within the first week. We understand how emotional transitions into a new environment can feel for families, so it is wonderful to know you have felt supported by our team and educators throughout the process. Thank you again for your kind words and trust in our team.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Guardian Childcare Springfield Lakes. There was a serious incident where my child was attacked by another kid @centre and left with multiple scratches all over their body—not once, but twice within minutes. What’s even more concerning is that this happened in front of an educator, yet there was no proper action taken. Despite repeatedly asking in person and following up via emails to both the Centre Manager and Zone Manager, we were not provided with a clear or detailed incident report. Instead, we were pressured to sign a report that did not accurately reflect what happened. Even more worrying, we were told this type of incident could happen again. This raises serious concerns about child safety and supervision. It also appeared that staff were either unaware of the other child’s behaviour or unwilling to acknowledge prior incidents, which suggests a lack of accountability and proper monitoring. On top of this, we faced ongoing issues with kindergarten funding. We were charged full fees for months while being told repeatedly that the funding issue would be resolved within 4–5 weeks. Despite multiple follow-ups via email and direct conversations with the Centre Manager, nothing was fixed. We ultimately had to escalate the matter to Centrelink and the Queensland Early Childhood authority, and got an email and same forwarded to centre for something to happen. Overall, the lack of transparency, accountability, and responsiveness from the staff and management is deeply concerning. I would strongly urge other parents to carefully consider these issues when choosing childcare.
