🥰Spreading Love and Kindness in the Classroom 💛 This week at Journey Ocean Grove, we are focusing on something very close to our hearts — respect, love, and kindness. 💕 Our little learners have been having some beautiful discussions about who they love and what love feels like. From family and friends to pets and teachers, the children shared thoughtful words and warm feelings as we explored the many forms of love. To express these big emotions creatively, the children were invited to take part in a meaningful art experience. They could choose to paint a flag, a love heart, or a triangle — and the results were stunning! 🎨 Many of the children chose to create colourful artwork, thoughtfully picking colours that made them feel happy, proud, and loved. 🩵✨ Their finished pieces now brighten up our classroom and serve as a reminder of the importance of accepting and celebrating one another. This week we celebrated reconciliation week by wearing yellow on Tuesday and Thursday and also doing lots of artwork such as drawing and painting. The children loved straw painting and painting with grains of sand mixed in the paint, we spoke about the aboriginal flag and the Torres straight Islander flag and what each colour on the flags represent. The toddler children also really enjoy reciting the acknowledgement of country during group time. At journey ocean grove we say “ here is the land, here is the sky, here are my friends, and here am I. National Simultaneous Storytime 2024. 📚 Our kindergarten children headed to the Indooroopilly Library at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre to listen to the story, Bowerbird Blues by Aura Parker. 🐦 This lyrical story follows the journey of a bowerbird on his quest for all things blue, all the while feeling that something is amiss in his life. The bowerbird's collection dominated by plastic caps, straws and tags invites reflection on environmental pollution and its challenges. #careforkids
