Our daughter started at this centre on 5 September 2022, when she was just under two years old, and we have been continually impressed by her growth in confidence and communication since then. She often comes home surprising us with what she’s learned or how she expresses herself, which we believe reflects both the thoughtful program design and the dedication of the educators. We originally chose this centre because it is small but high quality and nurturing and because children have opportunities to interact across age groups. As our daughter doesn’t have siblings, this mixed-age environment has been especially valuable. She has formed friendships with children of different ages and genuinely enjoys caring for younger ones. Looking back, we feel very grateful for our decision. If we were to choose again, we would enrol her five days a week sooner. Our daughter has even said she wants to come back to visit her teachers after starts school, and that, to us, says everything 💛

We knew from the day we walked into Kids Cottage it was a special place, but after having our two kids attend KC for the last two years, we can hand on heart say the experience has been beyond our expectations. What truly makes KC special is the educators - Lisa, Kosh, Skye and the team are so incredibly warm, supportive and are genuinely passionate about the kids and learning. Their communication is second to none and they have a real sense of care not just for the children, but the whole family. I cannot speak more highly of Kids Cottage and if we weren’t moving out of Sydney we would have happily kept our kids there until both of them were off to school. We’ll miss the team so much, but we know our kids and family are better and stronger for being part of the KC.

Kids Cottage has been an absolute blessing for our family. After having a bad experience from another childcare, we were nervous at first. The educators understood our concern and they went out of their way to reassure us, provided assistance at every step. The staff is incredibly caring, and you can tell they genuinely love working with children—they know every child’s name, interests, and little quirks. Our child comes home every day with new stories, showing us crafts, or singing songs they learned that day. Communication with parents is excellent. We get daily updates, so we always know what our child is doing, what they’re learning, and even what they ate. This level of transparency has been very comforting after our previous experience. We feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a wonderful community, and our child has blossomed here.

WELCOME: Kids Cottage Preschool is an Early Childhood Preschool service based in Oatlands, North Parramatta NSW. We specialise in delivering bespoke preschool programs, with longer hours, in a homely environment. Our academic learning programs focus on traditional core content areas, with contemporary approaches, that understand children learn best in social settings that explore their interests and ideas.
PAY FOR USE PRESCHOOL - We believe that you should only have to pay for the services you are using. We are proudly one of the first preschools in Sydney where families can do this. Pay for what you use. Our fees options are structured for shorter day or longer day attendance. This flexibility gives families the control to decide what service provisions they will use without hidden charges.
EXCLUSIVE LEARNING SPACES FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN: We provide dedicated learning areas separate from the main classroom that will enable your child to participate in small group learning experiences that are of interest to them. This includes separate library, art, kitchen preparation, STEM/science room and rest areas. Small group experiences enable your child's Educator to provide tailored learning opportunities for your child to extend on their existing knowledge.
ACADEMIC LEARNING & CHILD LED LEARNING: The service acknowledges that there is a place for both traditional and contemporary learning approaches. Traditional learning includes programmed times for small groups consisting of mathematical and literacy learning. These lessons are prepared by a qualified early childhood and school teacher. Contemporary learning ensures there are child led experiences that offer children the opportunity to explore the environment and be engaged in learning opportunities with educators that use various teaching strategies to enhance children's learning.
TEAM OF EDUCATORS: We are fortunate that we have long term educators with most educators being at the service for more than 4 years. The consistency and team approach ensures that children have a strong sense of belonging. Long term educators are better able to understand each child and develop programs that support each child's holisitic development. The service employs additional educators to ensure our ratios exceed those required by legislation.
AWARD WINNING: We have been recognised for our achievements winning awards for our science programs, health and wellbeing programs and our programs that embed Aboriginal culture into the curriculum.
FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS: Kids Cottage recognises the expertise of families, where families are encouraged to share in decision making about their child's learning and wellbeing and are are actively encouraged to contribute to service decisions.
COMMUNITY LINKS: With family permission and where possible, children participate in regular excursions within the local community and wider community, for example, local schools, aged care facility, parks, zoos etc.
