I chose Little Assets because of the immediate sense of community I felt. I was looking for a space that embraced diversity and felt truly inclusive. Seeing how the educators interacted with the children and how much the centre felt like a supportive, multicultural family made the decision easy. It felt like a place where my son wouldn't just be cared for, but where he would truly belong. Initially, my biggest concerns were the standard ones: Will he be safe? Can I trust these strangers with my son? I was looking for a team that felt like family. Looking back, I’m so glad I chose Little Assets. They’ve been a safe pair of hands from day one, and as my son’s needs have evolved with his global developmental delay, their commitment to him has only grown. They’ve gone from being his educators to being a vital part of our support system. The educators and leadership team are truly part of our village, right alongside grandparents, aunts and closest friends. They’ve been there for my son’s journey from seven months old to two years old, and I trust them with my whole heart. What stands out most is their dedication to his growth. Their support for his developmental needs has been incredible. From helping with his physio exercises to facilitating an OT and speech therapist to go in to the daycare setting, they go above and beyond to make sure he has everything he needs to thrive. I couldn't ask for a more dedicated or trustworthy group of people. There is a wonderful sense of longevity here; it’s rare to find a centre celebrating 15 year staff anniversaries! To me, that says the leadership truly values their team. When staff feel supported and happy, that energy flows directly into the care they provide. It creates a stable, loving environment where my son can build deep, meaningful relationships with the people teaching him every day. I have complete confidence in the safety and care at Little Assets. It’s clear that protecting the children is their absolute priority. I really value that the team is constantly participating in new workshops and training; it shows a level of commitment to best practices that gives me total peace of mind as a parent. I know he’s in the best possible hands. One of the primary reasons we chose Little Assets was their genuine commitment to diversity. As a person of colour, it’s incredibly important to me that my son grows up in an environment where his heritage is celebrated. I love that the educators don’t just acknowledge different backgrounds - they truly embrace them. They understand that every child has unique needs and are incredibly accommodating in ensuring every family feels like they belong. My best advice would be to book a tour and really take the time to speak with the leadership team and the educators. More importantly, watch the children who are already there: seeing how happy, engaged, and settled they are tells you everything you need to know about the quality of care provided.

What the parents say

We have recently re-enrolled our 2 boys aged 1 and 3 at Little Assets Melbourne City (after  a one-year absence) and we couldn’t be happier.

Just over a year ago, we moved house and made the decision to move from Little Assets to  another childcare centre in East Melbourne closer to home. Unfortunately, the local centre  did not meet our expectations, as Little Assets had set the standard so high!

The whole journey with Little Assets the second time around has been amazing. I couldn’t believe that all of the educators we grew to know previously are still there and it really does  feel like a family. Despite the inconvenience of having to drive to and from East Melbourne to Little Assets Melbourne City, we couldn’t be happier as we have an enormous level of trust in the centre. The education programs and style of learning is second to none!

My youngest son is in the Orange room and the oldest in the Purple room. Both spaces are  lovely and the educators are so nurturing and kind and have taken the time to get to know  their interests, likes and dislikes.

The centre has incredible outdoor spaces, with a huge amount of room and play options in  the toddler/kinder outdoor area.

Their communication is also excellent. I love the Educa app and am so impressed with the  level of detail when reporting on our children’s development.

I cannot speak higher of the wonderful team at Little Assets Melbourne City. Highly recommended!

Kristine - parent

The centre is very conducive for the kids to learn while they are having fun. The carers are passionate about their roles and are genuinely interested in how the toddlers/children are doing and progressing. The two fantastic ladies managing the centre are energetic, and are totally committed to making sure the children have a good environment to grow and learn. Totally have no qualms about recommending Little Assets to other parents looking for day care.

Eugene - parent

My son enjoys going to Little Assets! I would recommend parents to send their kids to Little Assets for sure!

Little Assets Philosophy Statement

Little Assets is family-owned early learning service dedicated in providing high-quality early childhood education and care to children across Melbourne. Our vision is to create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where every child can flourish and reach their full potential.
We value the individuality of each child, recognizing that they are central to their own learning journeys. Through a play-based curriculum, children are encouraged to explore their interests, express themselves, and evolve at their own unique pace. We provide rich educational resources and highly trained educators to support and extend their development.
Our holistic philosophy draws upon key principles and frameworks including:
• The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
• The National Quality Framework (NQF)
• Child Safe Standards
• The Reggio Emilia approach
• Diversity, inclusion, anti-discrimination, child rights
• Cultural responsiveness, especially to First Nations peoples
• Environmental sustainability

1. Child-Centric Learning (EYLF & NQF)
We see every child as a capable and competent learner. Our programs are responsive to their individual interests, strengths, and needs. Drawing on the EYLF and NQF, we foster a love for learning through play, creativity, and inquiry.
“I like about our Kinder because I love to draw in art area.”-Nina from LA Kew
“I like playing with my friends-something that I like -sandpit”-Lucca from LA Forest Hill

2. Reggio Emilia Inspired Practice
Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the vision of Loris Malaguzzi, we view children as capable, curious learners. Educators act as co-learners, observing and responding to children’s interests and ideas.
A core principle is Malaguzzi’s “100 Languages of Children”—the belief that children express themselves in countless ways, such as through art, movement, music, storytelling, and play.
We honour these languages by creating rich, open-ended environments that inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. The environment itself serves as the “third teacher,” supporting deep exploration and meaningful learning.
“The unicornosaurus, it’s my favourite area in yellow room because I love dinosaur. I learned that they exist a long time ago. I’m so happy that we made a very big dinosaur, like this big. Look at my arms (showing how big it is). And I love its claws because its rainbow” -Sebastian from LA Melbourne City

3. Diversity, Inclusion & Neurodiversity
We honour the rich cultural diversity within our community. Our inclusive curriculum reflects multiple cultures, traditions, and languages. We also embrace neurodiversity, ensuring all children—regardless of learning style or ability—are respected, supported, and empowered. We actively promote an inclusive environment where every child and family feels valued, fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness through encouraging families’ participation to share their culture, language, days of significance, family structure and experiences. These input shapes how we shape of curriculum and practises and how we critically reflect ways on how to make Little Assets more inclusive. We embrace children with disability and with neurodevelopmental differences. Our educators are continuously trained to understand and support children with diverse abilities, learning styles and additional needs.
“She’s on the wheelchair, I am holding her hands , her name is Finlie. I’m holding her hands because I love her. Iam kind to everyone” -Sophie from LA Melbourne City
“Friends with everyone”-Benjamin from LA Kew

4. Child Safety & Wellbeing
The safety, wellbeing, and rights of every child are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where children feel respected, heard, and protected.
We adhere to the Child Safe Standards, with clear policies and procedures in place to prevent harm and respond to concerns. Our educators receive regular training in child protection, mandatory reporting, and safe practices. We foster open communication with families and encourage a culture of trust and transparency, ensuring that every child feels safe, secure, and valued within our service.
“I draw Harpreet cuddling me when I feel sad. Then, I feel happy. I also draw a flying bunny””-Charlotte from LA South Morang
“Waiting at the tram stop, we wait for the people to get off & then we can get on the tram”-Ava from LA Forest Hill

5. Equity, Anti-Discrimination & Child Rights
We stand firmly against discrimination in all its forms. Our programs challenge stereotypes, promote social justice, and instil respect for every child’s rights. We strive to build a culture of empathy, fairness, and mutual respect.
“I made love potions. When people give love to someone else, they become friends. I want to give love to Yiling and everyone.”-Jesse from Little Assets Melbourne City

6. First Nations Cultural Responsiveness
We respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum and practice. By embedding cultural responsiveness, we celebrate the heritage and histories of First Nations peoples and work toward reconciliation through meaningful engagement and professional development.
“I draw Aboriginal people because I respect them. I learn to respect their land and the elders”- Zayah from LA Melbourne City
“I am drawing the Aboriginal Flag, and the camping fire. Teacher-” Why did you draw fire?” Nuvee pointed at the “Wurundjeri Land space said because I love playing at that corner”-Nuvee from LA South Morang

7. Sustainability & Environmental Responsibility
We inspire children to connect with and care for their environment. Our programs incorporate sustainable practices that promote environmental awareness, ethical decision-making, and a lifelong respect for the natural world.

The educators continuously encourage the children to make choices, discover, create, explore and communicate openly, while having fun in the welcoming, well-resourced environments.

The children are cared for in the following rooms:

Nursery

Orange Room: 6 weeks to 12 months

Children will be supported to develop fundamental physical, social, intellectual and emotional skills through enjoyable, play-based activities. These will include games, songs, arts and crafts in the indoor/outdoor space. The children also take part in music and Mandarin lessons.

Red Room: 1.5 years to 2.5 years

We are so grateful to have found this wonderful childcare centre for our twins. From the educators to the management team, everyone is incredibly caring, responsible, and genuinely passionate about creating the best environment for the children. What we love the most is how diverse and multicultural the centre is. They regularly introduce beautiful cultural activities and programs that help children learn about different backgrounds, traditions, and communities from such a young age. It creates such an inclusive and welcoming environment for both kids and parents. The educators are kind, attentive, and truly look after the children with so much love and patience. The management team is also always working hard to bring new ideas, collaborations, activities, and learning experiences for the kids, which we really appreciate as parents. The recent Mother’s Day event was absolutely amazing and so thoughtfully organised. It really showed how much effort and heart the team puts into making families feel involved and valued. Highly recommend this childcare centre to any family looking for a nurturing, engaging, and community-focused environment for their children!

We are incredibly grateful to have both our children at Little Assets Early Learning Centre. The educators and staff have created such a warm, caring, and welcoming environment where our kids feel safe, happy, and excited to learn every day. Since joining, we’ve seen tremendous growth in their confidence, social skills, and independence. What truly stands out is the genuine care and dedication of the entire team. Communication with parents is excellent, and it gives us great peace of mind knowing our children are in such capable and nurturing hands. Special thanks to Anjali and all the wonderful educators for the care, dedication, and effort they put into making every day so special and memorable for our children.

We visited almost all the daycare and kindergarten centres in the city before choosing this one. We also spent a year at a different centre before joining Little Assets, and the difference has been huge. Although we have only been with Little Assets for about four months, it is already very clear to us that this is a great place for children. What I have noticed most consistently is that the teachers here are genuinely kind and caring towards the children. They are gentle, warm, and patient, and they genuinely seem to enjoy being around kids. I also feel the management team does a great job choosing teachers with the right personality for working with young children. They have created a positive culture across the centre that feels very important for kids at this age. There is a sense of human warmth here that can be hard to describe, but it is very noticeable. Another thing I appreciate is that the management team Anjali, Sam and Reishelle is very approachable and friendly with both the children and families — they greet the kids warmly, interact with them naturally, and genuinely seem to enjoy being around children.

Response from the owner 07 May 2026

Thank you so much for kind words. It truly means a lot us. We love our families and children and everything we do is with your children’s wellbeing at our heart. Thank you for trusting us.
