School Readiness – Transition to School Program

At APSK we value children’s independent capabilities and capacities. One of the first big changes that happens for young children is transitioning off primary school. APSK is committed to ensuring that all children are ready to take on the world when the enter their new schooling environments. Annangrove has a dedicated school readiness program designed by our qualified and experienced Educational Leader with a holistic approach to children’s learning. We believe that multiple factors contribute to the individual success of children entering primary school.

Our Educational School Readiness Program focuses on supporting children not only socially and emotionally but cognitively as well. As we believe that a holistic approach for young children provides them with the very best opportunities. Our program runs over the whole year and incorporate a vast variety of skills and experiences. Over the year the children will explore all their developmental domains social, emotional, cognitive, physical and Language.

Over the year the children will engage in a variety of challenging and interesting experiences that will guide them through connecting with the world that surrounds them.

Our Educational Program helps to prepare each child for school, this is done through a variety of ways these include;

• Pre literacy skills
• Pre numeracy skills
• Social & emotional preparation (Awareness & Understanding)
• Communication skills (Written, Receptive & Expressive)
• General working knowledge of the world
• Stimulate interests through learning
• Awareness of rules & boundaries
• Self-help skills
• Fostering a foundation for everyday school life

Family Involvement and Communication at Annangrove Preschool

At Annangrove Preschool, we believe that strong partnerships between families and our educators create the best outcomes for every child. We encourage and value family involvement and aim to keep you connected and informed about your child’s daily learning and experiences.

We use the KinderM8 communication app, a user-friendly platform that ensures seamless communication between the preschool and our families. Through KinderM8, we send daily updates that include:

• Daily journals capturing your child’s activities, achievements, and moments of joy,
• Daily charts outlining sleep, meals, and nappy/toilet information,
• Important notices and updates directly from the preschool.

Beyond daily communication, we are committed to fostering a warm and connected community. Throughout the year, we host a range of family events and celebrations, such as cultural days, seasonal parties, and milestone ceremonies. These occasions provide wonderful opportunities for families to meet one another, celebrate their children’s achievements, and form meaningful relationships within the Annangrove community.

We also recognise the importance of flexible communication to meet the needs of all families. In addition to KinderM8, we communicate through verbal conversations, emails, phone calls, and informal catch-ups at the service. We are always here to listen, share updates, and collaborate with you in supporting your child’s learning journey.
