About Kindy Patch Salisbury Heights Long Daycare and Preschool

Welcome to Kindy Patch Salisbury Heights. We're ideally located for families in Salisbury Heights, Salisbury East, Salisbury Park, Golden Grove and Brahma Lodge in Northern Adelaide.

Our Long Daycare and Preschool Centre provides early education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.

We provide convenient, full care coverage from 9hr, 10hr or full days, 5 days per week, including school holidays.

Our multicultural and dedicated team of Teachers and Educators provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment - where your child can thrive, and be their wonderful self, every day.

Getting school ready? We offer a Preschool program that helps ensure your child has a successful transition to formal schooling.

We offer a great variety of learning experiences at our Centre including:

- Sustainability Program: Helps children develop and understand the importance of embedding sustainable practices into everyday life. Children learn about recycling, conserving water, growing food and the importance of protecting our planet.

- Community Engagement Program: Encourages children to interact with and discover their local community. We often have visits from community services, and we go out on adventures to places including bush kindy, nursing home visits and community walks to teach the children about their local environment.

- Music & Movement Program: Designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. Children learn to appreciate and develop an understanding of music - and of course, have fun.

From 2026 we will be offering 3-Year-Old Preschool - 2 years are better than 1!

We are proud partners of the south Australia Governments 3-year-old preschool program, giving children a flying start in learning and in life.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader investment in quality early childhood education, aiming to provide more children with access to teacher-led, play-based learning during the critical years before school.

What you can expect from the 3-year-old Preschool Program

If your child is enrolled in our service and turning 3 in 2026, they may be able to access up to 15 hours per week of this new 3-year-old preschool program, depending on need and availability.

4-year-old Preschool Program
At our centre, your child will benefit from our enhanced learning program in Preschool, combined with our play-based learning approach. Our program supports your child’s development, emotional wellbeing, and in turn, school readiness. If your child turns 4 years old by June 30, they can attend Preschool at our centre. Our program offers the convenience of extended hours year-round, making it easy for families to access quality early education.

Our Enhanced Learning Program for Preschool children focuses on:
• Numeracy & Literacy: Developing key skills for lifelong learning.
• Self-Regulation: Fostering emotional control and resilience.
• Social & Emotional Development: Supporting independence and building healthy relationships.
• Creativity & Problem-Solving: Encouraging curiosity and critical thinking.

With extended hours and a year-round program (excluding public holidays), our Preschool program is delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers committed to supporting your child’s individual development.

Additional Benefits Include:

• Personalised Learning Plans: Tailored to your child’s unique needs.
• Rhythm and Resilience Program: Music and movement to improve emotional regulation.
• School Readiness: Preparing your child for a smooth transition to school.

We also engage with local schools and provide transition statements, ensuring your child feels confident and prepared for the next steps in their education journey. Stay connected with your child’s progress via our Xplor platform, which offers regular updates on their learning and development.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing!

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn taking, developing self confidence and emotional self regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, is supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Lastly, ensuring that all children are ready for the ‘big school’ by preparing them for all that ‘big school’ has to offer.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.

Our centre offers children nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

My career in early learning started in 2013. I joined the team at Kindy Patch Salisbury Heights in 2023. I have a Cert 3 in Children services, a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management, and I am currently studying towards Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care.

What I particularly love about working in the Early childhood sector is building trusting relationships not only with the children in our care but our families and local community. Through relationships we can create positive outcomes for children, and provide an environment that is safe, nurturing, and responsive to the children. I have always had a connection to the Early Years and my passion has always been driven through connections with people and the love for creating invitations to play.

My teaching style is guided through being in the moment and challenging children’s ideas and thinking, connecting with our world by direct contact with nature. Through nurture, respect, and relationships we can create a safe environment that allows children to build on their confidence and strive for positive outcomes of learning. In my role, I love catering to children’s individual needs and helping our team to upskill to ensure an inclusive environment for all families.

We have a respectful team of inspiring and passionate educators. They are nurturing, experienced and they seek to make a positive difference for each child in our care. We also hold centre events to invite families to be a part of community and support families wherever we can.

I’ve had the pleasure of attending Kindy Patch Salisbury Heights as a physiotherapist, and it’s been such a positive experience. The team has created a genuinely inclusive and supportive environment, making it easy to provide therapy and incorporate the kindy environment naturally into our physiotherapy. The educators are open, collaborative, and always put the children’s needs first.

Couldn’t recommend a better childcare centre! After a difficult experience elsewhere, Kindy Patch Salisbury welcomed us with open arms and unwavering support. Since joining, my child has grown and thrived in ways I never imagined possible. One of the standout things for our family is the range of extra activities that allow the kids to give back to the community and explore the world in new and exciting ways. These opportunities have become a real highlight for us. The time, energy and genuine care that every staff member puts in never goes unnoticed. I’m beyond grateful to be able to trust such a beautiful team of people with my greatest little treasure!

From the moment we enrolled, we felt welcomed and supported. The communication from staff is excellent, and we love receiving regular updates and photos of our child’s learning and activities. The centre itself is clean, safe, and well-organized, with a great balance of structured learning and play-based experiences. Our child has grown so much in confidence and skills since starting here — we truly feel like part of the Kindy Patch family. Highly recommend to any parents looking for a nurturing and professional childcare environment!
