Our Intergenerational Play Group offers both our children and the seniors in our community time together to engage, connect and chat about many interesting and important topics, including current and upcoming birthdays. Our Transition to School program has started! This is where we hone in on specific skills, supported through play-based experiences. We are starting with the foundation of supporting fine motor & hand muscles, wrist strength, and flexibility along with cognitive skills. One amazing way to do this is through grinding herbs in the mortar and pestle before introducing the tactile element of clay. This hands-on holistic approach to learning about our world, including their immediate environment, natural resources and space had resulted in tremendous learning, wonderful questions, fascination and curiosity. Taking 'planning & design' to a whole new level with the preschoolers at Kinda-Mindi Glendenning 🧵 Working alongside our talented educator, Silau, the children have learnt about sewing. After much discussion, the children agreed their first project would be to make their own bags 👜 Starting with the planning & design phase, the preschoolers explored the concept of using a sketch to visualize their ideas and, once satisfied, transferred this onto their fabric. The exploration of shape & form followed as the bag started to come to life, resulting in much excitement & many questions about the speed of the sewing machine.
