At Mudpies and Fireflys Family Day Care, children grow and thrive in a nurturing, home-like environment inspired by the calm of the coast and the wonder of the bush. Located on the Sunshine Coast, our program blends nature-based, play-based, and relationship-focused learning with the neuroscience of the early years and the heart of community connection.

Each day brings new opportunities to explore — from barefoot play in the garden and bush walks to creative storytelling and quiet reflection under shady trees. We believe that childhood should be slow, meaningful, and full of wonder. Our Coastal by Nature philosophy encourages children to connect with themselves, others, and the world around them through curiosity, creativity, and care.

Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG), and Playwork Principles, we nurture children’s emotional wellbeing, independence, resilience, and love of learning.

Our small group setting allows every child to feel safe, seen, and supported — building confidence, friendships, and a strong sense of belonging. We partner closely with families to create continuity of care and celebrate each child’s unique journey.
