Welcome to KU Windale Preschool

KU Windale believes that play is central to children’s learning and development, providing enriching and holistic play-based programs that nurture imagination, confidence and creativity.  A team of passionate teachers and educators welcome children up to 5 years old into a caring environment, where every child is supported to thrive.

The centre features comfortable spaces for discovery, imaginative play and relaxation. The homelike interiors are light and bright, with natural elements including a fun indoor cubby, plus a rich array of toys, books and games. Educators present fun and exciting activities including a high quality school readiness program, music and Aboriginal learning.

In the lovely outdoor area, educators encourage children to connect with nature whilst building vital motor, physical and social skills through play. Children can dig in mud, climb trees, discover and learn about insects and tend to the gardens. This provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about nature, the environment and sustainability.

Programs Meet the team Parent communication and involvement About the curriculum

At KU Windale, teachers and educators present stimulating and fun play-based programs designed to build happy, confident, and active learners. The caring and committed team of early learning professionals focuses on holistic development, with programs spanning early numeracy and literacy, music, yoga, gardening, and sports.

Preschool programs are led by university-qualified early childhood teachers and designed to spark children’s natural curiosity. The centre provides meaningful experiences for children that help them build confidence by encouraging them to be active participants in their own learning.

Program activities include gardening, arts and crafts, music and movement, physical play, block building, sand and water play, science experiments, early numeracy activities such as counting and measurement, and early literacy activities such as reading, drawing, and writing.

Special Interest

In addition to the high-quality, well-rounded preschool program, KU Windale offers special interest programs in inclusion, with a focus on supporting the centre’s indigenous children as well as children with additional needs.

The centre incorporates this into children’s daily routines by embedding an Aboriginal perspective into all programs, making strong connections with local Aboriginal services, and celebrating Aboriginal history and connections to the land with a daily acknowledgement from the children and educators.

The centre supports children’s sensory needs with immersive experiences and focuses on enhancing communication skills.

The specialist programs enrich children’s understanding of the community and its heritage, as well as developing and enhancing their literary skills.
