About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Hi my name is Chloe, and I am the Centre Manager here at Community Kids Parkes. My career in early learning started in 2019. I joined the team at Community Kids Parkes in 2021. I currently hold my Diploma in Early Education.

I am passionate about creating a positive impact in my community and the environment through my work with children. I love seeing the world through children’s eyes. Each day, I witness the world from a child’s perspective - full of possibilities, positivity, and excitement for life. Working in Early Childhood Education provides an opportunity to make a real difference in the way a child approaches learning, as we are setting the foundations up for their lives ahead. This career also allows me to encourage, nurture and support positive outcomes in children’s health, wellbeing, and learning.

My approach is to allow each child’s potential to bloom uniquely. I believe in providing children with choices, flexibility, and opportunities to explore. Autonomy empowers them to take ownership of their learning journey, fostering independence and self-motivation. Children thrive when they have a say in their learning journey.

A dedicated early childhood education and care centre offers a rich environment for holistic development, preparing children for a bright future. Early Education and Care can help your child make friends, develop independence, and learn new routines. It also supports their transition to school. At Community Kids Parkes, we have a team of highly trained, dedicated educators who engage in play-based learning methods which enhance cognitive, emotional and social development. Our educators and teachers come from various backgrounds, cultures, and expertise areas. This diversity enriches our discussions and children’s learning experiences.

I work with families to provide quality care, tailored to the needs of their child/ren. I truly believe I foster good relationships with families by having positive, purposeful, reciprocal, and consistent interactions.

I look forward to welcoming your family into our community.

We have been part of the Community Kids Parkes community for the past seven years, and now with my final child attending, it’s bittersweet to see this chapter come to an end. From the very beginning, the teachers have been nothing short of amazing, caring, patient, supportive, and truly invested in each child’s growth and wellbeing. Every one of my children has been nurtured, encouraged, and made to feel safe and valued here. The relationships built, the confidence gained, and the memories made will stay with our family forever. I cannot recommend Community Kids Parkes highly enough to any family looking for a warm, supportive, and nurturing environment for their child. We are so grateful for the love and dedication shown by the entire team over the years. Thank you for being such a special part of our lives.

Community Kids Parkes is a beautiful centre with amazing educators. We are always welcomed with a smile & the educators always have time to have a chat and let you know how your child’s day was. Our child absolutely loves his educators and I know he is in safe hands while I am at work. Chloe the centre director is amazing to deal with, down to earth and approachable. I would highly recommend Community Kids Parkes to anyone.
