Response from the owner 21 Jul 2025

Hi Alexandra, Thank you for your review, and it is really sad to see how you have taken our conversation out of context for your own personal gain. As discussed with you this morning, you contacted our centre on Friday requesting your son start care on Monday. Later that afternoon, once your enrolment forms were submitted, we mutually agreed that you would bring your son in for play dates on Monday and Tuesday to help support a positive transition, especially given the short notice of your request. When you arrived, you were greeted and after you requested to leave him in the room you were informed that as this was a play date and your child was not legally in our care yet, you would need to stay with him during the visit. You confirmed that you understood and were happy to work with us to support your son through this transition. You stayed for nearly an hour. When I checked in, you appeared overwhelmed, which is why I suggested we try again tomorrow. Throughout the play date, it was reiterated—as it is with all new enrolments—that we encourage multiple play dates to ensure each child feels secure and has the best opportunity for a smooth start. You then asked if we had any other children with special needs, to which I answered honestly, however that does not mean we don’t have children who require additional support. We pride ourselves on the inclusive environment we provide for all children and families, and this is something that sets us apart from many other centres.. You were informed that we are a new service (operating less than 8 months) and do not currently have a formal Inclusion Support Plan in place—something we are actively working toward. It was at this point you claimed you understood how these things work, and how centres operate, and began accusing me of having no intention of proceeding with your son’s enrolment, which was entirely untrue and unfair. You made this assumption based on your previous negative experiences with other centres and projected that onto us without cause. You were asked to leave after you began raising your voice and becoming aggressive in a setting with other children present. You continued to escalate your behaviour at the front door, where you shouted unfounded and baseless accusations at our staff, which was entirely inappropriate and unacceptable which is why you were informed the police would be called. I’d like to clarify for the record: your enrolment forms were received Friday, and they clearly stated your son’s diagnosis of Autism. Our team was fully aware of this before your visit and welcomed you both warmly. Your son’s CCS enrolment had been created, you had been added to our platforms, and were introduced to the room educators—none of which aligns with your claim that you were discriminated against “as soon as we realised he had autism.” We do not and will never discriminate against any child or family. Likewise, we do not discriminate against any educator in our service. Our male educators are highly qualified professionals, and we have extensive safeguarding measures in place — including active CCTV surveillance throughout learning spaces — to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children. That footage includes your conduct this morning. We take our duty of care extremely seriously. Our philosophy is grounded in our own experiences as mothers, and our goal has always been to create a service that supports families with compassion, honesty, and integrity. We welcome the opportunity to have this accusation reviewed by the Department of Education should you see fit. While we’re saddened by how this situation unfolded, we sincerely wish you and your son the very best in finding a service that suits your needs.
