Thank you to the whole team at Out and About, especially Sarah, Krystle and Sally. Although for our own reasons we couldn’t continue with daycare, we have nothing but the highest praise for this centre. When our son first started it took a few weeks for him to adjust. He was very nervous and often upset but every single week we arrived to find they had planned something new just for him. They knew he loved planets and truly went above and beyond to make him feel safe and included. It was unlike anything we’ve ever seen, even down to buying a star projector for him. Even on the hard days, he would come home and tell us how much he loved Miss Sarah, Krystle and Sally. He called them his best friends, which says everything. The team communicated with us constantly and genuinely tried their best every week to support him through the transition. You can tell they truly care about the wellbeing and comfort of the children in their care. We’re so grateful for everything they did for our son and our family. We really hope we can return one day. Until then, we highly recommend this childcare to any family looking for a team that truly cares.

The staff here are absolutely incredible. For a first time parents sending your 3 month old child can be incredible nerve racking, however the staff in the boo room and beyond were just sensational. My child is now 14 months old and literally jumps out of my arms to see his little friends. Only good things can be said. Thanks Team.

Would not recommend. I'm writing the review I wish existed when I was choosing child care in Moolooah! We had our 3 year old and 1 year old here for 12 months, but we had constant problems. We've previously been with Goodstart and have had really positive experiences so we were unpleasantly surprised by this daycare. Main issues: Extremely poor communication: - they love emails but try and actually have a conversation with a carer and you get zero engagement. I had no idea most of the time who would be caring for my kids that day, and everytime we would ask a simple 'how was (child's name) day today?' it was usually met with 'oh I don't know, I'm not looking after them today and (carers name) has gone home.' We eventually stopped asking. Carers don't greet me or (more concerning) my kids when we arrive in the morning. They seem to have a 'don't ask me' attitude and actively avoid eye contact and conversation. All in all, don't expect an interactive relationship with the staff. - Leadership and management was also very poor. Every time I did have a concern or ask for feedback the issue got some attention for a couple of days but there was never any real carry over. I honestly didn't think this team could cope managing a child with even simple specialised needs. I got the message loud and clear that my kids were a paycheck to them, not an actual little person needing care and consideration. Lack of carer compassion: - I became increasingly more uncomfortable with what I saw. We usually arrive early and there is one very young child who is inconsolable at this time. I've watched carers ignore this little child as he followed them around begging for comfort. If his mother could see this scene everyday I'm sure she would be horrified. Health and hygiene: My 1 year old was sick the entire time they attended. Constant runny nose, cough, impetigo, I put it down to the fact they let all kids in attendance from all rooms intermingle at the end of the day so you can be sure your child is in contact directly or indirectly with the germs of at least 80 kids. (They are approved for 88 children daily). Internal politics: Frankly I got the impression no employee was happy to be there. Atmosphere was always tense. I did notice the staff turn over is very high. We must have had at least 4 team leader changes in 12 months. Positives: Their food was good - from what I saw, morning tea was very healthy and fun. Josh the chef was the only one who ever greeted us so I was sadder to see him go then any of the educators. Centre has great outer aesthetic. But sadly that's all it was- just aesthetic, no substance. It's also worth noting they don't even meet the minimum nqs rating i.e they are still 'working toward national quality standard' despite having been open for a few years now. Final straw was when I caught some very nasty bullying behaviour from centre leadership. Got the instant ick and pulled my kids out. Very pleased my eldest is ready for kindy somewhere else now and my youngest is much happier elsewhere - it's like night and day. If you are still using this centre and have concerns, I encourage you to listen to your gut and remember if your child isn't happy or you have doubts, it's most likely an issue with this centre, not you or your child. There are lots of great centres in the area and neighbouring towns, don't waste your time here! Good luck and steer clear.

I have nothing but the highest praise for Out & About Mooloolah. I feel so blessed that there is a daycare of this quality so close to where we live. The facilities are so clean and beautiful. The staff are so friendly and genuinely love the children. Special shout out to Sarah, Elsa and Sally. The three of you are our daughter's guiding angels. Our daughter loves you all and the other children. She comes home with so many stories. This place has been instrumental in her social development. Their meals are healthy, they don't give the children screens, they helped us toilet train her and improved her speech, taught her basic sign language when she was a baby, nourished her creative side and have cared and loved for her every step of the way. I could ramble on, but overall I highly recommend this beautiful daycare. ❤️

Out and about looks beautiful but if your child doesn’t fit the mould they are treated as a naughty kid. My son had developmental delays due to lack of hearing. This caused him to be frustrated. We thought that after his surgery things would get better, they got worse. After advocating for my son there were small changes for a whole of a week, until they found out we were leaving to a new daycare. The support stopped there. Kids are just dollar signs here. My son cried every time I would leave the entire 2 plus years being at Out and About. At one point they even suggested there was something wrong him. We go to little munchkins now and he is absolutely thriving! From day one he has run off without any fuss whatsoever. He is talking, he has friends and he is excited to go to daycare. They let kids be kids and they support each child and understand their individual needs. I would never recommend Out and About to anyone. I hate that it took me so long to realise they were the problem.

We cannot speak highly enough about this centre and its wonderful Educators. We feel so lucky to have our child being nurtured and cared for each day by the team at Out and About. We receive a warm welcome every morning, especially from Hayley, and the staff are always cheerful, positive and genuinely invested in each child’s development and wellbeing. Not to mention the centre is immaculate, modern and has a really warm feel about it.

What is a Top Rated Centre? A top rated centre must have 5 star average reviews rating, as well as 'Exceeding' or 'Excellent' NQS rating. The National Quality Standards are a set of national benchmarks for early childhood education and care services. It includes seven quality areas like "Children's health and safety" and "Educational program and practice".
Criteria:
The National Quality Standard (NQS) is part of the National Quality Framework (NQF), introduced to enhance the quality of early childhood education and care services in Australia. Developed by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), the NQS provides a benchmark for childcare services, from long day care and family day care to preschools, kindergartens, and outside school hours care. Under the NQS, childcare services are assessed and rated for the quality of education and care they provide. These ratings give parents a clear understanding of how well a service meets national standards, helping them make the best choice for their child’s needs.
Our average ratings are pulled from verified reviews from Google Reviews and direct parent reviews posted on the Care For Kids website.
Verified Centres are vetted by Care for Kids. As part of this process, Verified Centres undergo a financial assessment to ensure their reliability and credibility. We maintain an ongoing relationship with Verified Centres and provide them with support so they can offer you fresh and accurate information.
