My child attended this childcare for around a year, so I feel I can give a considered review, especially having experienced another centre previously for comparison.
The front desk staff were always polite, friendly and helpful, and I appreciate the effort they put into day-to-day interactions with families.
However, overall I didn’t feel a strong sense of belonging or connection to the centre. While the owners are very visible in marketing and advertising as a mother-and-daughter team running the centre, I personally didn’t feel they were very involved with the children themselves. My child doesn’t even recognise or know their names, which surprised me given how present they appear publicly.
Communication around my child’s learning and development was quite limited. The 3-year-old kinder teacher was only present a few days a week for short hours, so it was rare to see her, and there was very little direct feedback about my child’s progress. Aside from brief daily reflections with a couple of photos (which often looked very similar each day), it wasn’t clear what learning or activities were happening throughout the rest of the day.
I also found the teaching style quite strict and traditional. For example, children were told that the teacher had “eyes all around the classroom,” which felt unnecessary and potentially frightening for young children.
In addition, there were no excursions during the year, not even simple outings like visits to the local park. There were a small number of incursions, but these were fairly standard offerings that most centres already provide.
While there were some positive aspects, overall the experience didn’t quite meet my expectations based on our previous childcare experience.
I appreciate the care provided by the day-to-day staff and wish the centre well.
