North Fremantle School of Early Learning Centre overview
We are a Western Australian owned and run business, established in 1974 by Bernadette Giambazi, who received an AM in 2000 for her services to the Australian Early Childhood sector.
Bernadette’s daughters, Louise, Sarah and Genevieve continue their mother’s passion, commitment and excellence as hands on Directors of Schools of Early Learning.
Our Early Learning Programmes are developed based on observations of the children. Staff document the children’s learning, combining anecdotes, photographs, videos and audio to gain a picture of individual children and their interactions and relationships. Collaborative aims, focused on children’s interests are identified, building on the skills and knowledge already acquired, how the interests may be expressed and the skills necessary.
Literacy and numeracy are natural consequences of this inquiry based approach to learning. Through research, investigation, exploration, planning, designing and hypothesising, children read, experiment, imagine and create. The children’s discoveries and the meaning they make of them are recorded in drawings, photographs, writing, measuring, spatial organisation, graphs and numbers. Exploring collaboratively, children develop skills in working with others, communicating, making choices and sharing knowledge.
The School of Early Learning purposefully includes large specific Studio spaces and dedicated Studio Educators, whose role is outside of the day to day care of the children, to facilitate individual exploration, learning, experimentation and growth of self-expression by children, through their interactions with the visual arts.
We are committed to employing and retaining the best Educators in the profession, with all of our employees having a minimum Certificate III level of qualification. All staff are encouraged to actively complete qualifications through our own high level Registered Training Organisation, Early Years Education Training (EYE Training). The standard of training delivered by EYE Training, and therefore the skill and commitment level required by students is rigorous, with the resulting graduates producing a very high quality of employee.
We pride ourselves on our understanding of the needs of our community and providing the highest quality education and care to our children and their families.

My little boy started in the babies room at SOEL North Fremantle the day before he turned 9 months which was a couple of months earlier than I intended but I didn’t want to pass up on the availability that was offered to us as I’m told of this day care’s popularity. He was a little late on his milestones so wasn’t yet crawling & didn’t sit up for long unassisted. I was a very worried first time mum sending him to day care knowing he wasn’t showing much independence yet but was really pleasantly surprised & happy at how the carers looked after him & kept me informed all along the way. He has come leaps & bounds since starting & I’m sure lots of that has to do with him being around other children in a fun & stimulating environment as well as the helpful encouragement from the experienced staff. We are very happy with our experience at SOEL North Fremantle & now that our little boy is almost 1, we know we definitely made the right choice sending him there. Read more
That is wonderful to hear Tanya. Leaving your little one with strangers is always tricky and we are glad that your experience with us is everything that we want for all of our children.

Their priority seems to be profits first, care second, and unfortunately it shows. We made a long and tough decision to change our son's childcare provider after having him at North Fremantle SOEL for about one year, but it was without doubt the right choice. It is only after this change that we could clearly see the many shortcomings of North Fremantle SOEL - from the care provided, the general atmosphere, to the administration. Read more

Both of my children have enjoyed every minute of their time at North Fremantle SOEL. The staff are lovely and the studio is an amazing place for them to be and I was constantly surprised about what my kids could do in there! This really is a magical place for any child and is right next to the train station (Great for me). Read more

Unfortunately very disappointed in the level of care and communication. I Witnesed my son being aggressively handled (dragged a cross the floor in the bathroom) by a SOEL educator. The educator was reprimanded and sent to an external course to help manage this outburst. However I was never given any update on how management handled the situation- I had to remove my son from the centre and make a complain externally to find out this information. SOEL would never discuss the incident with me “on the record”. Clearly did not want to accept any wrong doing for legal purposes. It’s so shameful that they could not acknowledge to me the mistreatment of my son for business and legal reasons. Furthermore, no sense on community and very very high turnover of staff. Many staff expressed disappointment in management and not a nice working environment. It would be my recommendation to parents that they ask any potential daycare, to be updated on any staff changes and question how they limit staff rotation. Plus try and see beyond the “fluff” that they aim at parents, instead sit down at the kids level and get a real sense of the actual level of care. Read more

AMAZING! 5 🌟 We are so impressed with the North Freo SOEL. The directors instantly gave my husband and I the confidence required, in looking after our son. After only a short time I knew that I had found a second home for my child, where he would be nurtured and looked after vigilantly. The serene environment, fresh air, cleanliness, spaciousness, and friendly staff instantly put our minds at ease. (After looking at multiple centres) There was no comparison. My son enjoys Tennis lessons during school, once a week. Which he LOVES so much! There is so much option / and activities for growth. In so many different and diverse areas! Thank you to the educators, directors and staff at the centre for every smile you put on my child’s face, and for teaching my son to be confident, friendly and caring. I cannot thank you enough for all the happy moments my Boys shared with you throughout your time together. I am so glad we found the centre! Best place ever! Read more
