Learning begins long before birth, and in our Jellyfish (0-1.5 yrs old) and Turtles (1.5-2 yrs old), we create a warm, nurturing environment where every baby feels safe, loved, and supported to explore. Through our Key Educator approach, educators build close, trusting relationships with each child, allowing them to truly understand their cues, interests, and individual needs.
At this age, children learn greatly through what they see, so we provide rich visual literacy opportunities to support early language development and help children begin interacting with their world and making simple choices about their learning. Through sensory play, music, stories, and meaningful everyday experiences, each day becomes a gentle and exciting journey of discovery.
Our toddler room is full of curiosity, movement, and hands-on discovery. Children at this age learn best through sensory play, physical exploration, storytelling, music, and simple cooking experiences. These opportunities allow them to explore new textures, tastes, and ideas while building confidence and independence. This is how, at Treasure Cove, we make a difference in the lives of toddlers.
Toddlers learn in many meaningful ways throughout the day:
Play and Exploration: Toddlers learn best by doing. Activities such as building with blocks, filling and emptying containers, and navigating obstacle courses help them develop problem-solving skills and understand spatial concepts like “under” and “over.”
Imitation and Modelling: Toddlers closely observe adults and other children, imitating gestures, language, and social behaviours.
Repetition: Repeating activities helps strengthen brain connections and supports memory development, whether it’s reading a favourite book again or practising a new skill.
Sensory Engagement: Toddlers learn through their senses—touching different textures, hearing new sounds, and exploring colours and materials.
Language and Social Interaction: Conversations, singing, and storytelling help toddlers expand their vocabulary and develop communication and social skills.
Curiosity and Experimentation: Toddlers are naturally curious about how things work, which encourages them to explore, experiment, and discover the world around them.
Our Preschool room is designed to support children aged 3–4 years as they grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity. At this stage, children are developing stronger language, social, and thinking skills, and our play-based curriculum encourages them to explore, question, and discover the world around them. Through engaging experiences such as storytelling, early literacy activities, creative arts, music, science exploration, cooking experiences, physical play, and practising personal hygiene, children build important skills that support their development and prepare them for their future learning journey.
We also focus on social and emotional growth, helping children learn to be kind, share, and cooperate with others. Early numeracy and literacy experiences allow children to start exploring numbers, letters, and the meaning of texts in fun and meaningful ways, laying the foundation for confident, capable, and curious learners ready for school.
Research shows that children who attend a high-quality preschool perform better academically, socially, cognitively, and emotionally. That’s why at Treasure Cove, our focus is to provide an environment that nurtures the whole child and prepares them not just for school, but for life.
Our Dolphin Room is designed for children aged 4–5 years, where independence, confidence, and curiosity are encouraged every day. Our university-trained educators work collaboratively with our Educational Leader and Centre Director to intentionally plan an environment rich in learning opportunities.
Through a play-based curriculum, children engage in storytelling, early literacy and numeracy, creative arts, music, science exploration, cooking, and physical play, while also developing problem-solving, creative thinking, symbolic thinking, and decision-making skills. They also practice important life skills such as personal hygiene, kindness, cooperation, and sharing, while exploring numbers, letters, and the meaning of texts in meaningful ways.
Every experience in the Dolphin Room is designed to help children become confident, capable, and curious learners, ready to embrace the challenges of school and life with enthusiasm and resilience.
