Our eldest son started his daycare journey at Great Beginnings Hammond Park just before the age of 2. From the very start, the staff and educators showed an incredible amount of care and such a warm welcome that we had no doubt in our minds that he was in the best place. Three and a half years later, our boy is now starting a new chapter in Pre Primary. What an amazing transition it will be thanks to the particular care and guidance the educators have provided and just how far he has progressed in his time there. A humungous Thank You Great Beginnings Team from the bottom of our hearts for making our boys very first glimpse into early learning such a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience that we will cherish for ever 🙏🏻 🥹 We look forward to seeing you again soon when our youngest starts his Day Care journey! 💕

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Hi, my name is Diana, and I am the Centre Manager here at Great Beginnings Hammond Park. Every child learns in their own way, and creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment is key to supporting their growth.

I began my journey in early childhood education in 2017 and joined Great Beginnings Hammond Park in 2025. I chose this career path because I deeply believe in the importance of those early years. Watching children grow, explore and discover the world around them brings me so much joy. I’m especially passionate about nurturing each child’s unique strengths and interests, and I take pride in being a part of their early learning journey.

Over the years, I’ve learned how vital it is to build strong, respectful relationships with children, families, and fellow educators. Every child learns in their own way, and creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment is key to supporting their growth. This has shaped my teaching approach to be child-led, reflective and responsive. I focus on each child’s strengths, interests, and cultural background to guide their learning.

I’m passionate about helping children grow at their own pace, supporting their social, emotional and cognitive development, and laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning. I often tell families that while home is a wonderful place for children to learn, an early learning centre like ours offers opportunities for children to build relationships, develop social skills, and grow through shared experiences with peers and educators. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and we’re proud to be part of that village.

My team is made up of passionate educators from diverse cultural backgrounds, which enriches our centre community and helps us connect more meaningfully with families. We support each other, share ideas, and work together to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

As a Centre Manager, I strive to build strong, trusting relationships with families. I believe in open communication and always take the time to listen to families and make sure they feel heard and supported. Together, we work in partnership to ensure the wellbeing, safety and growth of every child in our care.

I look forward to welcoming your family to our Hammond Park early education centre.

My son has been attending this daycare for 1.5 years, since he was 6 months old and I cannot speak more highly of them. I have found the staff to be nothing short of amazing - they are caring, attentive, loving and remain professional ensuring the environment is safe and educational for the children that attend. My son has thrived in the centre and he loves going. The centre itself is clean, colourful, full of fun and creativity. The meals, must be amazing because he eats more there than he ever does at home! So thank you to the amazing team at Great Beginnings Hammond Park, each and every one of you are special

Dear Alana, We can’t thank you enough for your 5-star review! We are so touched by your kind words. It has been an incredible journey watching your eldest son grow and thrive with us these past three and a half years. Knowing we’ve played a part in building his confidence for Pre-Primary is the most rewarding experience our team could ask for. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a child transition to big school feeling ready, happy, and safe. Your support means the world to us, and we can’t wait to welcome your youngest into the family soon! Best wishes, The Great Beginnings Team

I cannot recommend this centre. I have sent my child to this daycare for 3 weeks only and couldn’t stand it anymore. The hygiene is so bad . The staff don’t care to even settle your child when you are leaving.
