Curriculum and programs
Curriculum and programs
The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.
As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.
Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.
Meet the team
Meet the team
Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.
The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.
Belinda Moore
Hi there, my name is Belinda and I am the Centre Manager for Goodstart Cranbourne East.
I have been actively engaged in the Childcare and Early Learning sector since 2001. I hold a Diploma in Children’s’ Service and Community Services and also trained as a neonatal support worker. Throughout my years in this ever changing industry I have supported many services, teams, families and children.
I believe that with a holistic approach to education and care, positive outcomes for all children and families can be achieved. By understanding the whole child, community and family, future learning is nurtured, allowing growth for children to become involved, confident, self-aware and to realise their potential. Building strong authentic connections is valuable within the service community and gives all that are connected to our service a sense of belonging.
I have had the joy of managing the Cranbourne East service for 10 years with a team of professional educators that are passionate about quality care and inclusion. With over 150 years of combined knowledge we maintain a home away from home environment for educators, families and children.
I look forward to meeting you and your family soon.

We were having trouble sometimes at home so it would have been understandable if they also had trouble. When my child first enrolled there, they would come home ravenously hungry, eat so much food, then sleep 2-3 hours earlier than usual. At first I thought, considering the notes, "ate all lunch" "Ate all snack", that my child must just be tired from playing and running around. Later I would find out they were struggling to feed my child everyday and were giving them milk at meal times. None of this was discussed or mentioned to me or my child's mother until I attended family care meeting which included a member from DFFH and Family Reconciliation Program. In this meeting it was brought up for the very first time that they were having trouble feeding my child. I pointed out the discrepancy and they said they would be more detailed in the notes. The details in the notes never changed. It is bad enough that I am engaged in a family breakdown and forced by DFFH to send my child there when I am fully capable of looking after them alone, without interference. These organisations who are supposed to assist parents to get back on their feet during a family breakdown have no understanding in protecting children. This matter regarding lying about my child's food intake broke my trust completely. Goodstart Cranbourne East is not to be trusted with your child. They lie in their notes to cover themselves from parent's scrutiny, but behind the scenes keep REAL notes in times they need to make it seem like the parent is the problem! If I could give negative STARS I would. This place needs to be investigated. Read more

While he started off happily, within a few months he began crying, throwing tantrums, and begging not to go. I initially brushed it off as normal toddler behaviour or boredom. The following year, I enrolled him in public kindergarten two days a week, while he continued attending this centre the other two days. I also enrolled my younger son, who was nearly two at the time. For kindergarten, I had to pack his lunchbox, so he always knew which centre he was going to. Whenever he realised he was headed to this daycare, he would cry again and the same happened with his younger brother. There were already red flags. I personally witnessed educators mishandling children and brought this to the centre’s attention. But I never imagined my own children might have been directly impacted. Sadly, we now believe they were. After leaving the centre in 2023, my younger son still reacted with fear at the mention of going back crying and screaming even when we simply drove past. I asked questions, but my kids were too young to articulate what had happened. Now in 2025, something finally came to light. Just this week, my older son told his younger brother that “Ponam the scary lady” (the assistant manager at the time) no longer worked there. When I asked why she was scary, he said she used to scare us and hit children. He also described educators who twisted the ears of “naughty boys” and dragged them into time-out. Hearing this as a parent was sickening. My younger son doesn’t recall the details, but his fear said enough. Both of my children were emotionally affected by their time at this centre, and it’s something we’re still unpacking years later. Since moving towns and enrolling in a new daycare, both boys have completely different attitudes , they love their teachers, feel safe, and genuinely enjoy their time. I am writing this review because no child should be scared of the people meant to care for them. And no parent should be left with years of regret and unanswered questions. Read more

I have 2 past kinder graduates & 2 currently at the centre. The staff are wonderful& caring ! Centre & Assistant Manager are experienced, funny & kind. Both have 10+ years in the industry & extensive knowledge about supportive child care practices. Not forgetting the amazing Educators who do an exceptional job caring and nurturing the children. My children have started in the Nursery room and moved up through the toddler & kinder rooms. Staff are very supportive of families and do their best to help in any way possible. I used to live within walking distance but moved about a 10mins drive away. I had an orientation at a centre close by and didn’t feel like the centre was anything like what we are used to. We are used the the spark and friendly, smiling faces ! Goodstart Cranbourne East provides a great environment where your child with learn, grow and build healthy, relationships. I give them 5stars for the outstanding service they provide in our community. Read more
