Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
At The Green Elephant, we believe children thrive in environments where they feel safe, valued, and deeply connected. A nurturing approach grounded in care, trust, and respect for each child’s journey. We see early childhood as a time of wonder and possibility.
Through play-based learning, we support children to explore, imagine, and grow at their own pace. Every child is unique, and we honour their individuality with thoughtful, responsive care. Our educators build strong, authentic relationships with children and families, learning alongside them and supporting not only academic growth but emotional wellbeing.
We partner with families to create a sense of belonging that extends beyond our centre walls — a community where everyone feels heard and supported. Each day at The Green Elephant is filled with joyful moments, quiet reflection, and meaningful connection. This is how we help children flourish — gently, intentionally, and with heart.

A LOVE OF LEARNING
At The Green Elephant, we believe a well-rounded education extends beyond literacy and numeracy—it’s about nurturing the whole child. We focus on building strong cognitive skills, emotional intelligence, and a deep sense of connection to self and others.
Every moment is a learning opportunity, and our thoughtfully designed curriculum embraces this by weaving movement, music, languages, yoga, and fitness into each day. These enriching experiences are woven into our routines and are integral to how we support children’s physical confidence, emotional resilience, and creative expression.
Through play, mindful routines, and meaningful relationships, children develop the confidence, curiosity, and self-awareness they need to thrive—not only as successful learners, but as kind, capable members of their community.
At The Green Elephant, we’re laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning—one joyful, connected moment at a time.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
5 PILLARS OF LEARNING
A well-rounded and balanced approach to child development is essential for their well-being, learning, and growth. To help children thrive in all aspects of life, we focus on nurturing their overall development during the crucial early years, laying a strong foundation for future success.
Guided by the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we recognise that each child is unique and capable. That’s why our approach fosters individuality through play-based exploration, investigation, and inquiry tailored to each child’s learning style.
Our Five Pillars curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support their specific developmental needs across five key areas of brain development:
Social and Emotional | Creative | Communication | Cognitive | Physical
In the toddler room, the children are encouraged to develop their own unique interests while the educators also teach them early literacy and numeracy skills. The daily routine includes a mix of small and large group times as well as free play and teacher initiated learning activities.
The children are supported to develop their independence and self-help skills such as toilet training and packing away. Peer friendships are encouraged and the children build resilience and self-awareness that will serve them well throughout their school years and beyond.
In the preschool room, small group experiences allow the educators to tailor the curriculum to different needs, age groups and interests. With a combination of play-based learning, hands-on experiences and educator-led activities, the children become independent and capable learners.
The children are empowered to ask questions and explore their world. They are supported to develop self help skills and share their unique interests and experiences with their peers.
Health & nutrition
Health & nutrition
At The Green Elephant, we believe that healthy eating habits developed in early childhood have the power to shape a lifetime of wellbeing. That’s why we are committed to providing nutritious, balanced meals in line with the Australian childcare nutrition guidelines—ensuring every child receives the nourishment they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
Our qualified Nutritionist and dedicated chefs work together to create balanced, seasonal menus packed with fresh, wholesome ingredients. Every dish is made with care to support healthy growth, boost brain development, and make mealtimes fun and engaging.
We encourage children to be curious about food—exploring its colours, textures, and origins. We believe food is a wonderful way to learn, connect, and celebrate. From hearty breakfasts to satisfying late snacks, every bite is designed to provide the energy and nutrients growing minds and bodies need.

She has been so happy here! The morning drop off starts with a delicious smell of food prepared by the onsite chef, then you will see all the happy faces from the educators calling your name and saying hello! Unavoidably, there are some tears at drop off from time to time, you will always see an educator coming over to give the little one a warm cuddle to help her settle! Daily diaries are always so detailed with so many photos! The varieties of activities are always so creative :) At pick up, it normally takes me sometime to persuade my daughter it's time to go home as she always want to stay longer! I really appreciate the efforts and care from the centre over the years :) Read more

My experience of TGE has been wonderful for our 3 year old who has been attending the day care service since turning 1. The educators are wonderful, caring and warm, and led by an equally personable director who is proactive and communicative in letting families know about changes and issues relating to the service. I really rate how much they engage parents for input and to attend things like special celebrations, book readings, show and tell, so on. You can engage both in-app/in-person, and you can track your child's day and have a record of their development and education. The low 1 star reviews relating to a period with high staff turnover may be fair in relation to the issue affecting the centre at the time, however early childhood education is a difficult industry which faces systemic and structural challenges, and it's hard to fault a single day care centre as being the cause of a industry-wide issue. The educators certainly don't lack effort! My recollection of that period is that the directors and educators put in the extra mile to be direct and communicative about the issues occurring, and that's probably the best you can ask for, transparency. The educators who remained put in extra work to engage the children, and in my opinion, that's the measuring stick of how the centre and educators should fairly be judged. Read more
