About Nido Early School Iluka

  • We actively involve members of our service community, including police and firefighter families, to support safety education.
  • We proudly support Tiny Tots, a charity organisation that collects baby goods and essential items for families experiencing hardship.
  • Children regularly participate in walks throughout the local community, exploring nearby streets, parks, and natural spaces.
  • Our Beach Kinder program connects children with local lifesavers to learn about beach and water safety.

At Nido Iluka Early School, we provide exceptional education and care for children from six weeks to school age. Our approach focuses on creating warm, nurturing environments where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we design programs that encourage creativity, cultural understanding, and confidence through hands-on experiences.

Safety is central to everything we do. We follow national child-safe standards, maintain clear supervision, and provide ongoing training for our educators to ensure children feel secure and cared for.

Our programs include wellbeing initiatives, sustainability practices, and community connections that enrich learning and foster a sense of belonging.

Our environments are thoughtfully designed to spark imagination and exploration. Indoors, children enjoy art ateliers and quiet spaces for storytelling, while outdoors they discover climbing areas, water play, and natural elements that encourage a connection to nature.

Community is at the heart of Nido Iluka. We collaborate closely with families and local community services to create meaningful learning experiences that support children’s growth and sense of belonging.

At Nido, every day is an opportunity to nurture confident, capable learners through safe, inspiring environments and meaningful experiences. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we turn everyday moments into lasting learning that shapes each child’s future.

Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We value strong partnerships with families and actively involve parents in their child’s learning journey. From enrolment, we collaborate with families to understand routines, interests, and goals, tailoring programs to meet individual needs.

Communication is open and transparent, with regular updates, photos, and videos shared through our Playground App. Families are encouraged to participate in events and classroom activities, ensuring they feel connected to their child’s learning every day.

From sustainability practices and wellbeing initiatives to creative expression and early literacy, our curriculum turns everyday experiences into opportunities for lifelong learning.

We have been with the centre since the doors first opened in September 2020. Its been a journey that we've enjoyed watching our children develop connections, attachments and friendships that make their world so complete. Each educator is incredible and their talent in making the children comfortable and at ease makes the closing of this chapter in our lives so so bittersweet. Denise and the lovely girls we've had the pleasure to know these 5 years - we're going to miss you. (Promise - I'm not crying).

Oh we are so sad to say goodbye to Nido Iluka! Our daughter started when the centre first opened in 2020, staying until it was time for school and today was our sons last day, as he is off to school, after being with the centre since 2022. The educators are absolutely incredible, and feel more like family. Each and every one of you has shaped our children's learning experience for the future. The management team, with a big shout out to Denise and Nikki, are so invested and committed to the centre and ensuring that families have a wonderful experience. Graduation is going to be one emotional day for us!

The team at Nido Iluka has been such a special part of our lives. Our daughter started here when she was one, and over the last two years the team has helped her grow into a confident, happy little person. The educators genuinely care! You feel it in the small moments, the way they know the children, and the trust they build with families. Especially how she remembers each educator by name and is excited to come to day care each morning. We leave feeling incredibly grateful for the care, warmth, and stability Nido gave her during these early years. Looking fwd to coming back with our next kid 🙌
