We, along with several other family members, have recently returned to Edge Plympton Child Care Centre and have been really pleased with the experience. We were provided with clear communication about the improvements being made to strengthen safety and overall quality of care. It was reassuring to see that educators (including those we have always thought highly of) were supported with further training and guidance to ensure the environment remains safe, nurturing, and well managed. Since returning, it honestly feels like home. The staff are incredibly welcoming, the environment feels calm and well-paced, and the children are appropriately challenged in their learning. Communication is consistent and on point, and most importantly, our children are happy and thriving. Drop-off has always been a little challenging for us, but the children have settled back into the environment with ease, which really reflects the warmth and care of the team. We also can’t help but mention the incredible chef and the amazing food! The children are so lucky as Mum and Dad certainly don’t cook like Milo! We truly hope and encourage other families to consider touring Edge.

Only a few weeks in and we honestly couldn’t be happier. Our little ms 4 has settled so quickly, is trying a wide range of foods, eating more… and for the first time in a long time isn’t coming home and raiding the fridge like she’s been starved 😂 The best part is hearing her come home full of stories, telling us how much fun she’s had and how much she absolutely loves her new friends and educators. Seeing her this happy, comfortable and confident so quickly means everything to us. We’re so grateful to the amazing team here, and Ms Steph has done an amazing job of welcoming us. Also hats off to Chef Milo, the kids absolutely adore him and his cooking classes. Highly recommend.

I have just enrolled my daughter in edge at Plympton. She loves the indoor and outdoor spaces. She has already formed great relationships with her new teachers and loves coming to childcare each day.

Earlier this year, my baby suffered a concussion after being dropped on their head at this childcare centre. An educator was carrying him in an unsafe manner and tripped, causing him to fall and sustain facial injuries. Despite visible trauma to his face and vomiting, no ambulance was called. We had to take him to the GP ourselves, where he was diagnosed with a concussion that lasted for a month. What’s most alarming is the complete lack of transparency and accountability. We were repeatedly denied access to the CCTV footage, not only by centre staff but also by the compliance officer. When I was finally allowed to view the footage five days later, it was horrifying. It clearly showed my child being held in a way that did not meet safe handling standards (they admitted this themselves also). It also showed that my child took the full impact onto his head from a height. This was NOT a minor accident, it was a serious incident that could have cost my baby his LIFE. Despite the severity of his injuries and symptoms, the incident was not escalated appropriately. Even though the Education Standards Board (ESB) was involved, the centre made no effort to inform other families or be transparent about what occurred. It was quietly swept under the rug. This is exactly why families are confused and blaming new management, who are now left to deal with the fallout of these past issues that were never properly addressed. Let me be clear: these issues did not begin with a change in management, as some recent reviews suggest. This happened under the previous management and staff, it just wasn’t made public like all of these recent incidents and other previous incidents at the service. This was a failure of basic duty of care, of emergency response protocols, and most importantly, of honesty.

Hard to know where to start. Our family has been going here for the last 3 years and up until about 3 weeks ago we had nothing but wonderful things to say about Edge Plympton and our daughter’s experience here, however since the change in management and the mass exodus in staff it has become an absolute disaster. Once an incredible and welcoming safe haven for our little daughter it has vastly become the place of nightmares. From never wanting to leave the centre just a few weeks ago to crying in the carpark every morning during drop off because she doesn’t want to go anymore. We enter the room and new faces everyday. Not even a hello, or how are you, it’s almost like dropping our child off is a huge inconvenience to the staff. On a few occasions in the last 2 weeks our daughter has come home with a few bumps and grazes and on one occasion a cut on her arm so deep it was still bleeding. When addressed to the centre we were simply ignored. No responses to our emails and no call backs after several messages left. Simple zero accountability and care. On pick up they can never find her water bottle and have lost several and on the days it is there it is empty. Are they refilling the water bottles? Our daughter quite often would drink a whole bottle of water in the car park on the way home so it would certainly make you wonder if she is getting enough to water to drink for the day. When you think it couldn’t get any worse you receive an email at 9pm at night informing you that the centre has been forced to close by the Educations Standards Board for 2 weeks due to kids being left unsupervised. I can’t say I’m suprised as there’s barely an educator in sight during drop offs in the morning. We will be removing our daughter from care here which breaks our heart cause she has made so many friendships and bonds with other kids in her age group but we simply can’t take the risk as our daughters safety and wellbeing are more important than anything else and unfortunately as a parent I feel genuinely worried about the risks apparent at this facility. To the absolutely fantastic educators that have been forced to leave we thank you for all your hard work and dedication and we will always remember the wonderful experiences shared with you and if this is what senior management is like then leaving was the best choice for you all because you all truly deserve better.

Was a fantastic centre until new management came. There has been a mass exodus of staff due to mistreatment from management, poor communication to families, reportable incidences that have not been told to families and so much more. Our poor children are the ones suffering as they don’t know who the adults are in their rooms and their friendships are breaking as families are leaving. I am so disappointed.

Our family has been at Edge Early Learning Plympton for almost 3 years, and what was once an incredible, safe, and nurturing centre has now been destroyed under the leadership of the new area manager. Since she stepped into management, long-standing, well-loved educators — the very people our children trusted and felt safe with — have been pushed out. Around eight key staff have left, leaving families heartbroken and children’s circle of security shattered. The bonds that made this centre feel like a second home no longer exist. A disingenuous hello in the morning, and a ‘I can’t be bothered with you’ bye in the afternoon is now all that’s received, if we’re lucky to have someone present. The culture has shifted to one of secrecy, poor communication, and zero accountability. Emails go unanswered, phone calls are ignored, and parents are left in the dark about major incidents — including an emergency action notice issued by the Education Standards Board after a child was left alone in a classroom. We had to hear about this from other parents, not the centre itself. That is appalling. Since then, our children have come home with scratches and marks with no explanation, no incident report, nothing. The inconsistency’s, lack of transparency, and attempts to minimise or obscure the truth, are completely shocking and unacceptable. In my opinion, the centre prioritised internal processes and their own interests, over the wellbeing of the child in their care. This is simply not good enough. On top of that, multiple agency staff walk in and out without proper introductions; a solution posed due to the restriction to have proper staff as our original staff were labelled as ‘replaceable.’ Children’s artwork has been removed, educators’ farewell posts deleted, and the centre’s beloved bird Coco — a huge part of the children’s daily lives — has simply disappeared with no explanation. Her dismissive, smug approach to families’ concerns has destroyed what was once a beautiful community built on trust, transparency, and love. The service now feels unsafe, cold, and unwelcoming. We’ve made the devastating decision to remove our children, because their safety and wellbeing must come first. For anyone considering this service don’t be fooled by the previously positive posts, what once I would have said is a 5 star centre who I recommended to all, now I would strongly caution other families before enrolling. To the incredible educators who were forced out — you will never be forgotten. You were the heart of this centre, and our children are better for having been loved by you. That they can never take away from us. Edge head office should be paying close attention, because of the people you have entrusted to do the right thing have only cause heartache and pain and this is what she has done to this centre is devastating, and families current and future deserve far better.

In June, my family went through a major life altering event and the love and community that edge provided was second to none. However, after a change in management and an exodus of key lead staff, the response from the centre has not been good enough and overshadowed the amount of good that came from the centre. Obviously with such a large number of staff leaving, the backfill of agency/casual staff presence has increased. There’s no photos or introductions. They sit on their bums either doing absolutely nothing or engaging with 1 child while the room runs wild. There’s only 1-2 familiar faces and that is a lot of weight for those 1-2 people to carry when they are not supported by colleagues or management. Putting bums in seats to meet ratio simply is not good enough. They deleted all the farewell posts from much loved staff members who have been there for our little humans, erasing all transparency and form of communication for us parents. These are leads that we love, our families love and have helped raise our babies. 2/3 of our kids have been enrolled into edge and we will be seeking care for our children elsewhere because it is evident they will need to rebuild the centre and the exodus of staff shows that there is no support or valuable guidance from management. They can’t even be bothered responding authentically to our emails of concern. Things we love about edge: The room leads but they’re either leaving or left Milo and Milo’s food Things we don’t love: Everything else. They have handled this so poorly and I would avoid Edge for at least a year til they get their ducks in a row because I’m not even sure they know that their ducks aren’t even ducks at this point.

Edge Early Learning Plympton has been amazing for our family. This was our son Amod’s first time going to childcare, and the staff made the transition so smooth and comforting. The facility is clean, well-organised, and filled with engaging activities for the children. His teacher has been taking such wonderful care of him, and we can truly see how happy and settled he feels. We are very thankful for their dedication and warmth, and we strongly recommend Edge Early Learning Plympton to all parents looking for a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
