About Nido Early School Westmeadows

  • Embedded excursions to local parks, reserves, and community spaces to extend learning beyond the classroom.
  • Physical wellbeing sessions through Sports Heroes, promoting fitness, coordination, and resilience.
  • Strong partnerships with health and wellbeing services, including speech therapy, occupational health, and school readiness programs.
  • STEM and environmental learning activities that encourage problem-solving and care for the natural world.

At Nido Westmeadows Early School, we provide quality education and care for children from six months to six years. Our approach focuses on creating safe, nurturing environments where children feel confident to explore, learn, and grow. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we design programs that encourage curiosity, creativity, and resilience through hands-on experiences like STEM, social-emotional learning, and physical wellbeing activities.

Safety is central to everything we do. We follow national child-safe standards, maintain clear supervision, and provide ongoing training for our educators to ensure children feel secure and supported.

Our programs include STEM construction, emotion coaching, and physical wellbeing sessions through our Sports Heroes program, helping children develop problem-solving skills, confidence, and teamwork.

Our environments are thoughtfully designed to spark imagination and exploration. Indoors, children enjoy art ateliers and quiet spaces for storytelling, while outdoors they discover climbing areas, water play, and mature gardens that encourage a connection to nature.

Community is at the heart of Nido Westmeadows. We collaborate with local schools, libraries, and health services to create meaningful learning opportunities and strengthen children’s sense of belonging.

At Nido, every day is an opportunity to nurture confident, capable learners through safe, inspiring environments and meaningful experiences. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we turn everyday moments into lasting learning that shapes each child’s future.

Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Meet the team

Meet the team

At Nido Westmeadows, we prioritise building strong, trusting relationships and creating a collaborative environment where every child feels safe and supported. Our educators model empathy, curiosity, and respect, fostering a positive and inclusive space for learning.

Children often share what matters most to them:

“Playing and teaching the kids to play and learn.” – Sunny & Henri (Kinder 2)

“Play with me.” – Kelly (Kinder 2)

“Go outside and play with water, water is safe with me.” – Delilah (Kinder 1)

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We value strong partnerships with families and actively involve parents in their child’s learning journey. From enrolment, we collaborate with families to understand routines, interests, and goals, tailoring programs to meet individual needs.

Communication is open and transparent, with regular updates, photos, and videos shared through our 'StoryPark’ App. Families are encouraged to participate in events and classroom activities, ensuring they feel connected to their child’s learning every day.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and aligned with the EYLF to support holistic development. It is co-designed with families and experts to balance literacy, numeracy, creativity, health, and confidence.

Educators follow children’s interests and strengths, creating hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and enjoyable. From STEM challenges and sustainability projects to social-emotional programs and creative arts, our curriculum turns everyday experiences into opportunities for lifelong learning.

Such a wonderful childcare! Maggie, Teresa and Zeinab are truly caring, patient and kind. They always make Gabriella feel safe, loved and happy. I can see how much dedication they put into their work, and I feel very grateful for the positive impact they have on her every day.

Our son goes to westmeadows Nido and the difference we have seen from changing our childcare over to them has been amazing, our son loves going there and cries every morning to be dropped off to see Kristy , Tarryn and veda. They are some of the most amazing educators I have met and you can see how much the kids love them, they are so involved which is so refreshing to see, they have supported us with learning and developmental challenges. he also loves seeing keke in the mornings, she is another amazing educator that works at westmeadows Nido, we would not fault them in any way, highly recommend
