We feel so lucky and grateful to have our baby girl safe and sound with educators Ana, lead nursery educator, and the lovely Ebony and Hannah.
We were so nervous to leave our girl (our first) in daycare but the educators and especially Ana have shown a level of attention and care for F (our bub) that frankly I’m blown away by. F needs sensitive skin baby wipes and nappies and they have never once forgotten this even though I don’t remind them. If I forget to bring them in, I’ll get a phone call checking if it’s ok to use a daycare wipe or nappy even for one single time only. When I took over an hour to bring in a new nappy packet one day, Ebony called again to ask if it was ok to use a daycare nappy a second time. They monitor her hydration so closely, without me asking, because they know she has a benign kidney issue. That is the level of attention and care they give to F’s particular needs and to communicating with me, even in a busy and challenging job like childcare.
Ana in particular is devoted to the child’s rights and needs. She’s clearly highly experienced in early education. You can tell it is a vocation, not just a job. I was really struggling with F’s sleep and naps when I started and the first time I met Ana, asked her to wake F after an hour. Rather than saying what I wanted to hear, Ana said no, they can’t do that because following the UN’s convention on the right of the child means allowing the child to take the rest they need. Ana’s perspective and focus is always about what is right for the children in her care. I’ve been so lucky to have F in her care and she has flourished in terms of sleep and eating (struggles for us), with daycare at Community Children Kingsville being a big part in making this happen.
They let me know whenever F has an off day and do things like holding her all afternoon if she’s upset (thanks Hannah). It’s been such a relief knowing F is known and paid attention to like that. As a new Mum, it was also great to be able to turn to Ana and Ebony for advice, too.
Tracey, Rabia and Vanessa in management have also helped us along the way with logistics. They’ve been kind, accommodating and patient, for example with my changing requests for days, even when I’ve been disorganised or stressed.
F has a great time at daycare and reaches out for her educators to take her at drop off. They plan and run so many fun activities for the bubs that I would never think of, with water, sandpit, paints and more. They even did Xmas ‘photo booth’ shoots, gave F wrapped presents to open and had F ‘make’ Xmas baubles that are very special for us. I love that they don’t allow screens or phones, so the kids are spending the day playing and exploring. A few times I’ve been in to drop things off unannounced and it’s so cute seeing F through the windows, happy playing or being read to by an educator.
Overall I am a bit blown away by the quality of care F has received from her educators and feel so lucky we have landed here, and especially lucky to F will be in Ana’s room for a 2nd year.
