This service is below mediocre at best. Their motto might as well be “all care, no responsibility.” This is what I’ve heard from many other parents as well.
The lead educator in the nursery room seems more interested in her breaks and smoking outside the centre - leaving cigarette butts on the footpath - than in nurturing the children. Is this really who we want shaping the next generation? She’s barely ever interested in sharing anything about the children.
During the tour everything seems great and they were all on their best behaviour. When we asked what their routine was like, so we can match it at home (meals, naps, etc.), we were told that they follow our home routine. This was not the case, so we had to quickly get up to speed when we started at the centre.
During the tour, they also said nursery room is 1:4 ratio. It is not. They, like many others, go by the “under the roof ratios”. This leaves children vulnerable, especially when surrounded by educators who don’t care.
Some of educators frequently address one another, and parents, in a rude, condescending and defensive manner. On several occasions, I have also observed some of them speaking unkindly to the children, laughing at them when they are upset and asking “are you done?” while the children are crying. This is not what I’d consider as providing nurturing care.
What’s concerning is the lack of accountability running from the top down. The centre director is clearly letting all these issues slide and not taking them seriously. She’s quick to say yes to everything, but with no real follow-through, accountability or responsibility. Avoid this place!
