Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Montessori education is a personalised approach developed by Dr Maria Montessori, proven successful for over a century. It tailors learning to each child's style, stage, and interests, fostering academic and well-being foundations through hands-on experiences and real-world problem-solving. Montessori educators observe children's interests and guide them toward relevant materials for purposeful and engaging learning. This method acknowledges diverse learning paces and preferences, promoting respect, independence, and freedom for children to direct their own learning, leading to high motivation and a love for learning.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The curriculum at Montessori Academy follows a blended approach, drawing on both Montessori principles and the Early Years Learning Framework. The curriculum follows five key learning areas:

  • Practical Life: exercises and activities that children observe in daily life to develop their independence, concentration and fine motor skills.
  • Sensorial: activities that help to refine the senses and lay the foundation of early mathematics, language and geometry.
  • Mathematics: hands on experiences that teach both abstract and concrete mathematical concepts.
  • Language: exercises that help the children to develop their vocabulary and understanding of language.
  • Cultural Studies: children learn about culture and community through subjects such as Geography, Botany, Zoology, Science, History, Music and Art.

The educators use Montessori materials to teach the curriculum and tailor the learning to each individual child.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Montessori early learning centres differ from conventional preschools and childcare facilities. They create an ideal learning environment, offer customized educational materials, and provide guidance to support holistic child development. Montessori education is active, adaptable to each child's pace, encourages self-correction, and aligns with individual interests. Its overarching objective is to equip children with the knowledge and abilities needed for lifelong learning, fostering confidence, independence, and a thirst for knowledge.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Many families choose Montessori Academy because it aligns with their parenting style, beliefs about early childhood education, and their child's future aspirations. Those with a 'Montessori Mindset' believe in their children's immense capabilities and equally prioritize their well-being and academics.

Selecting the right early education provider involves finding a place, people, and program that truly resonates with your family. Families choosing Montessori Academy place a high value on early childhood education and seek the best possible start in life for their child.

We highly recommend Croydon Montessori academy. Our kids learn so much in a warm and supportive environment. The teachers are lovely, caring, and dedicated, and the parents are friendly and welcoming. It is a wonderful community where children can grow, learn, and feel happy every day.

My son AX has been in this childcare for over 3 years now since he turned 18 months old. We went through pre-toddler, toddler and currently preschool. While the center is definitely not as polished as some other newer childcare centers, we never thought of moving him to somewhere else, because of the following reasons: -The center educators’ turn over is extremely low. My kid has almost same group of educators for more than 3 years now. This is very important as it shows that it is a good place to work so every one is happy, and also benefit for young kids so they can quickly establish rapport with the same group of educators. He loves his educators, and still would go into toddler room to have a chat with his previous educators now and then. - the center really value family time and put a lot of effort into engaging with family through various ways, for example, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter hat parade and Xmas time. I was tear down first time hear my kid sing “I love you mommy” during the Mother’s Day afternoon tea, that’s the moment it matters to us. (And you prob won’t get that in a lot of other centers!) - great academic support at early year. I know different people have different view on this, but we value all the Montessori time my boy went through in the center. He learnt so much in 3 years that I don’t think I am able to teach him these at home! Also the support this center is able to provide at tradition year to kindy is great, which I am currently experiencing now. My kid also made a lot of friends here, and he talks about his days at dinner tables. High recommend
